Default re: Ducati to re-enter India in 2015. EDIT: Bikes priced from Rs. 7.08 lakhs (page 6)

Yesterday I got a chance to test ride the Ducati Monster 795 from Ducati Infinity Mumbai. Some points that I would like to highlight.

1. Very knowledgeable and dynamic folks at Ducati Infinity.
2. I got a test ride of about 7-8 kms, quite a long test ride by usual standards.
3. The Monster 795 is such a sweet handler, I could take quick turns with aplomb.
4. The raw stock exhaust note is amazing, deep burbles !
5. The engine heats up a little, not too much though. Its pretty manageable.
6. The riding position is comfortable for my 6 foot 2 inches 100 kgs frame.
7. The 795 grabs loads of attention thanks to the lovely looks and a bright red paintjob.
8. The 796 S2R, Hypermotard, Diavel and 899 Panigale were also on display. The Diavel is the one I would lust for, but 16 big ones for the base version !
9. The Scrambler is expected by May-end and Multistrada only by next year, in the first quarter of 2016.

I have a few pics of the bikes, will upload them tonight.

Wow, it slipped from April end to May end?

But are they fully confident of launching it on the May End?
Are the bookings open though?

Yes sir, they were pretty confident about the May end timeframe. Bookings yet to open for Scrambler and Multistrada. For all other Ducatis, the booking amount is Rs 2 lakhs.

The price difference between the Diavel Dark and the Diavel Carbon Red is a huge 3.5 lakhs OTR.

The 899 indeed is a looker.

Thanks. Is there any tech difference between Dark and Carbon Red edition?

Nope nothing except the carbonfibre parts and the Marchesini wheels. The carbonfibre parts help in weight reduction by 3 kgs so yes the Carbon would handle better, but I am sure that negligible reduction is not worth the 3.5 lakhs extra.

The Carbon with the red inserts looks amazing, but then I loved the looks of the Diavel Dark as well. The Dark looks straight out of a Batman flick.

Bookings open for Ducati Scrambler

The bookings for the Ducati Scrambler are open now !

Source: Autocar India

Quote:
Ducati India has started accepting bookings for its Scrambler motorcycle in Mumbai and Delhi. The Scrambler Icon in red colour will be the first to go on sale here, and costs Rs 6.57 (ex-showroom, Mumbai) which works out to about Rs 7.5 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). We also have information that the bike will be launched in India by the end of May 2015 with deliveries starting immediately after.

We test rode the Ducati Scrambler recently and were pleased by its on- and off-road abilities. The Ducati Scrambler is powered by a 803cc, L-twin engine that produces 75bhp of power. Power is transferred to the rear wheel via a chain final drive and it uses a 6-speed gearbox.

Must say that it is an impressive pricing at 750,000 INR.

Hopefully the Bangalore Showroom opens in time to see this beauty.

I know you have been lusting after the Scrambler, but for 50K more you get the Monster. Why not that?

To me it looks to be a more complete bike. And perfectly capable (as capable as the Scrambler, and probably more) for what you have planned.

Looks better too, though I know that's subjective. I have a (known) weakness for colorful trellis frames.

Somehow not quite convinced with the Monster 795.

How flickable is the Monster when you compare it with a middle weight machine?

Any idea when the Versys 650/V Strom are going to land in Indian shores?

Why should the Monster be in a different weight class? They are both 800 cc machines. Which means both are not your typical middle weights either.
