So yeah, the kawi panniers are really expensive (costing same as a brand new 150cc bike), and folks on a budget (like myself) will have to tick it out of the list to begin with. Will explore possibilities a little later.

These touratech guards looks functional for the 2015 v650.
The Givi replica looks good. Yes, the top boxes always make one look like a delivery guy. Aluminum boxes are the worst looking in my opinion. Please educate us on how much you spent for these? How to make one for Versys?

Regarding Touratech, how to source them? I came across an interesting site www.triumpinda.org and shop.triumphindia.org and they seem to sell accessories for Triumph. Not sure who is behind, but nevertheless they have atleast one more channel to shop around.

Yes, the givi replica was of good quality, from JC Road, Bangalore. I guess studds india made them. The box costed me around rs 2500 and the frame was another 700 or 800 rs.

For my Duke 390, i had made a mounting plate, where i could fit the same Givi box along with its plastic base plate, and also throw the cramster bag over it. I made it using CRC sheet, powdercoated finish. Works well, except there is no space for a pillion. (sharing some pics). So yes, many possibilities are there and we are good at Jugaad, only will have to make sure they are functional and not a big eye sore.

Not sure, but i have a few friends in Dubai and Touratech has an outlet there. Will explore that route.

Yes. However, Versys has support for mounting plates and it does not affect the pillion. For less than 4K, it looks pretty decent and your juggad on the mounting plate is impressive. Kudos to you!

Haroon, that was a pretty impressive presentation that you made. Loved every bit of it...Kudos to you

If can tour atleast 1 continent, I would feel super proud of myself

That's some nice work on the top-box. Doesn't look too bad on the bullet. Don't know about Versys. But, great jugaad work !

I think we all are getting carried away with discussions on topbox/panniers/mounting hardware etc....

The important question here is where is the bike???

Exactly!! No concrete news on the arrivals, no new India specific reviews, so best way to lighten the excruciating wait is to talk about the accessories.

On that note, Whats the best we can do to make the horn more powerful? Most of these imports consider the international scenario where honking is like abusing and provide a horn for namesake. Even a scooty in india will not give way with these so what are the options? One could be that we replace the horn with another more powerful single horn, as a dual horn may require wire tampering, leading to warrenty issues.

Yes, Haroon's video was super good. Had some nice FB chat with him and learnt some good stuff. BTW, join the Versys owners club group in FB for informal discussions.

In fact, the discussions that we are doing are quite useful and we wont have this much time once every one gets their bikes delivered. Then there will be discussions on ownership reviews, issues, cribs on the dealership, break-ins, mods, some rides and its pictures etc. Besides what else to do to keep this thread alive

[QUOTEThe important question here is where is the bike???[/quote]

I pass the dealership everyday and never ever fail to take a glimpse of the showroom. Always hope that there will be some surprises. But nothing till date.

All I see is the same old Versys 1000 waiting to be picked up and some KTM bikes. New Ninja 650 was on display for some time. Now that is gone too.

Did you try the horn? I found it be good enough.

Can you share the link? a search shows other countries owners groups. many are dedicated to V1K. Do we have one for india? dont think there will be many owners so far.

No, i just saw it and it looked puny. Should have tried it though. Guess is It would have sounded loud anyways within the confine of the showroom, real test will be out there on the road with much higher ambient noise. Will take a call after hearing it.

My bike is all set for delivery. It seems the RTO registration related approvals are through in Bangalore and you should see these guys deliver and register the bike.

Kalyani motors (KTM) Bangalore where I have booked the bike is all ready to deliver. On all probability will pick the bike either or Friday or Saturday. While he is ready to deliver tomorrow, I am held up with some pressing work with long hours in office and cannot really take time out for delivery of the bike. Hopefully by Saturday I will have my bike registered as well.

Some of the immediate accessories I am planning are Hepco Becker or SW-Mototech engine guard or crash bar, Axel sliders front and maybe a pair of LED lights that I can mount on the crash bar. Looking at knuckle guard but did not find anything interesting or maybe I have not looked at the right websites. Will research on this in next few days. Panniers and top box I am not buying now as I have a good Viaterra saddlebag that I can use for now.

The dealer here referred me to "japan.webike.net" site for accessories and mentioned that many Kawasaki owners order accessories from here and they is quiet reliable. Also, shipment above $300 seems free. Planning to order the crash guard from there as I kinda liked the design for 2015 Versys

Congratulations man! That's an awesome news. Please do keep us educated on accessories as well. What about centre stand? How quick is the shipment that website? Do we need o pay 28%duty for these items?

Once all of us got our bikes we should plan for a meet as well.

Dust_harl, you have booked with banashankari ktm? Congrats on the bike.
Swmotech stuff seems to be a good option for accessories. There seems to be more accessories available from Europe than Japan especially online.
Also Webike .net is an amazing website to buy kawa stuff ( at least for z). If you buy more than 300 us dollars shipping is free. (I guess, cause we did not pay for shipping)

Congrats again, hope to ride together sometime.
Do post your initial riding impressions

Congrats, As you can see all of us are envious of you

We look forward to lot of pictures and if possible a quick and slightly detailed ( I know, I know it's an oxymoron) riding report of it over this weekend (if you think that's not too much to ask)

Thanks in advance !!!

thanks!! Just the kind of real world review I was looking for. With the slightly nervous suspension, clunky gear shift and lack of two up touring ability (achy pillion seat and a driver's perch which is painful after an hour), I am not sure what kind of real life highway touring ability this one has.
This review is painfully different from the other reviews online. I am eagerly waiting for our member reviews as and when they happen before I can take a decision on which middle weight tourer to buy. I am swinging between the versys 650, the benelli 600gt and triumph tiger...

Hey congratulations on the Purchase. Have fun.
Have you spoken to Sean at Big Bad Bikes. He's a dealer for SW Motech if I am not wrong and specialises in parts for tourers etc. Plus he's based out of Bangalore as well.

Check his FB page "Big Bad Bikes" he should be able to help you for sure.

Cheers and congrats again.
