Hello Josepeter,

Congratulations for your Triumph bike. I wish you many more happy miles with this beast of yours.

I have been hooked onto various travelogues and ownership reviews pertaining to the Tiger, Kawasaki versys 650.

Recently, while going through some videos on youtube, accidentally i happened to see review of Tiger sport 1050. Later i started watching related videos. The next day, started doing my research as to whether these bikes would be launched in India anytime sooner.

Do you or any on in the forum, has any idea as to whether tiger sport 1050 will be launched anytime sooner in india?

Cheers

Tiger sport 1050 is basically a speed triple with a raised suspension like the adventure bikes. I've never got indications from the dealer that it may be launched in India anytime. Adventure bikes expected in the future from Triumph are upgraded versions of the 1200 explorer and the completely refreshed tiger 800 range in 2018/19.

I had a small call with Triumph showroom people and as per them, the model changes every year in June/July types. So, the 2018 model starts from June/July 2017 onwards itseems. Following are my queries;

1. So, the updated Tiger 800 range can be expected around this time,i.e June/July 2017 onwards?

2. Is it worth to wait till that time for the proposed upgrades?

3. What are the kind of upgrades expected?

No clear word on it yet, internationally they have launched the Street Triple few months back and that would be reaching India in couple of months. Again the variants are not revealed for India in Street. Similarly the tiger variant "sport", though was launched last year internationally, there is no info on India launch.

With regards to upgrade, Tiger already has received all the major ones in the last iteration, like ride by wire throttle and rider modes. Next iteration i strongly believe would be an all new Tiger, but most likely that will take a year or more to launch and couple of months after launch to hit Indian shores. So don't expect much to change in 2017.

Went for a ride with Backwater-RAT last weekend. Had an opportunity to sit pillion on a Tiger XCX which doing an off-road-downhill. It was a so comfy that I was taking video sitting there.

Browse for more of this series on that youtube channel.

No Offense JK, That does not look like even mild off-roading conditions as its all grass flatgrounds with some stones strewn around

I think you should try it in dust/dirt/gravely conditions next time

OT: The track in monsoons will be fun. Need to try both the Versys and the Tiger 800 in such condition. Will hire one in Bangalore once the monsoon starts and give it a try.

True but it's not flatground but a hill. The video/pix doesnt make it look like one and no bike will go up/down the walk the Tiger's did.

There are events at Kottayam etc for bikes . Seen details of one or 2 done by R&T's Sam Kurian.

Suicide with street tyres which is what these bikes come with (knobbies in stock size are 35k a set). You will need knobbies to do anything with these bikes offroad, unless you are reasonably well built and well skilled.

Great review Jose peter. Great reading a review of the XR. Personally I feel the extra electronics of the XRX are not strictly required if you're just going to be road riding but not sure what expert users might feel.
