Default My First MC Pack Ride

Today I had my first experience of a Motorcycle Club and Pack Riding.

Met up at an Emarat Petrol station this morning with the 'Karma Riders MC', an all-Indian Motorcycle Club here. Amongst other machinery, this club features an Enfield 525 Chopper that won the best bike award at last year's Dubike Fest. Sadly that bike didnt make it to the meet because the owner (club president) decided to bring his Suzuki Marauder instead.

The ride was a family affair with the ladies and children following the bikers in 4WDs for a ride to Al Ain, allegedly to see the Air Show there.

We started off with a sad homage to another Indian biker JoJo (not part of the club) who died in a crash on the 17th, apparently after losing control of his bike at 3.30 am. All of us lined up on the kerb beside the spot, inviting a lot of interested looks from passers-by who were intrigued by a pack of bikers holding flowers. After a brief silent prayer we all laid flowers at the spot and proceeded to Al Ain.

Since the bikers were leading the pack, the trip ended up on top of Jabal Hafeet because all the riders wanted to have a go at that fantastic piece of road.

In the process I learnt to ride in formation with the pack, and all of us took turns at leading the pack. Quite an experience, especially because of the regular 'bad boy' image that bikers carry - the pack is orderly, polite to a fault, extremely road-savvy and very very safe. Average speed on the ride out of Dubai was about 100 kmph, while the average speed on the ride back was higher at about 125 kmph as we rode fast to reach before darkness.

Here are some images. More to follow when I get pics from the other cameras - I couldnt take many as my camera was inside one of the cars (PeeVee's Pajero) following us.

Starting Lineup

Lined up on top of Jabal Hafeet

Le Terminator Bike

The Duke and his Cat - Meet the 'Food Photographer' who does the menu pictures for many of the world's leading hotels including the Burj

Toilet Break enroute - its 1.5 hours of riding

Meet the Brat Pack - Duboy (extreme left with specs) and PeeVee's kids ("Man these uncles look so cool!" earlier in the day)

Me and my Bulldog

The Road to Jabal Hafeet (bad pics from a Sony)

I take instructions to lead the pack downhill

so you go for your first club ride and i after a long wait do some reasonable distance on my Thunderace to get the FEEL of it on the same day, nice!!
Btw, any specific reason i see only street bikes/cruisers in this group, or you probably havent posted any pictures of those just yet (?).

WOW steer...u certainly had fun in the meet... I remember when we were driving down to Al-Ain fun park we were in a daewoo espero and we were hitting around 120km when this biker overtook us and dissappeared...

I was awestruck by the way we were overtaken ( lot of distance maintained) and the control the biker had at those speeds..
