Source of info is from The Hindu 14th june of this month, and i firmly believe that there is going to be an war on bigger cc bikes in the near future as Harley,Honda,Yamaha,Bajaj,Aprila and others are eyeing our booming Indian market.

sathya : harley is out now. they were looking at coming into india, but plans are on hold and most prolly they wont be coming. yamaha will be the first company to bring in big bikes (jan '08 onwards), followed by others

I am very surprised when all the Jap manufacturers are completely ignoring the naked bike category.. They are comparatively cheaper, have the same running gear as the sbk s, albeit lacking in the handling dept, but no plastics to deal with. As a matter of fact the FZ1 and the new Bandit kick some serious ***.. and the are a lot easier to ride in traffic.

Any thoughts?

Sure!

But prabhuav, Yamaha, as they have declared, are bringing the bikes into India, not for sales numbers. but for brand image. And, they know they'll have better fan following with bikes like R1 and MT01 in their list (though they may not set the sales chart on fire)

These kinda rumours have been around for years. it will take atleast a couple of more years for the CBU to trickle in and a lot more before they come as CKD.

I agree that the flagship models are the ones that propagate the brand. But the naked bikes are getting a lot of attention the world over .

I am reminded of this Billy Joel number that I heard some 25 years ago. It's called Vienna waits for you

Slow down you crazy child
You're so ambitious for a juvenile
But then if you're so smart tell me why
Are you still so afraid?
Where's the fire, what's the hurry about?
You better cool it off before you burn it out
You got so much to do and only
So many hours in a day

I would add - dream on you crazy child

Forget the 250. Kinetic should go ahead with their earlier plans and launch the 650. Tourer or GT, the 650 would be serious VFM if launched at the intended price of 3L...

EDIT: Did anybody see the warranty being offered on these machines...?? 2 years unlimited kms...??? Hyosung is mighty confident of their products...
