I don't think so buddy. I saw an episode of one of last years Fifth Gear episodes and it clearly stated the stats, weight and horsepower, the GSX1000R both K5 and K6 are more than 1000bhp/litre. I think all the japanese litre bikes are. How come other Litre bikes werent mentioned, the Ducati 999, MV Agusta F4-1000, Triumph 955i Daytona?
Anyway I'd have the GSX1000R followed by the MV Agusta F4-1000. A lot of people said the Kawasaki would own the GSX, well , thats not true, as far as street biking goes the GSX is as nimble as the kawasaki and its not as murderous. The kawasaki would definitely give you more thrills coz of its ability to wheelie even in 4th gear with a mere throttle twist. However that was only for the 03-05 models. The new 2006 has lowered this characteristic, since the test-riders for kawasaki felt that making the bike less wilder would increase corner exit speeds (read this in the 06 review in Motorcyclist magazine) and thus reduce lap time.
Its clear why the R1 is winner here, its drop-dead gorgeous.

track set GSXR1000R
amazing handling and the power delivery is great but the only bike in the litre to be real competition for the gixxer is the kwacker

Mind would say Yam R1 or the Honda 1000RR.....but Heart clearly shouts out Kawasaki! ...Always had a weak spot for the Ninja range. So the ZX10R it is.

If all goes to plan.....HOPEFULLY by the end of this year, I should have a Ninja - 6R or 9R (used of course).

so R1 is the unprecedented winner it seems.

kawasaki ninja is a far second
suzuki gixxer is a close third

honda never gained momentum here.
