The driver mentioned that there was a BMW cycle (not motorcycle) being delivered to someone at the dealership 2 weeks ago when my car was in for service.

Nothing as of now. Only CBR250R.

Its raining motorcycles since Y'day right from CBR250R, ST7/650R & now BMW. Hopefully we'll hear about positive news on Kwacker 650R soon.

Looks like they have left out the smaller capacity bikes.Good news that BMW is getting its bikes here,i am sure they have enough patronage in this country.

The front of the S1000RR looks too quirky though.BMW's asymmetric look doesnt always look good.

They were selling bikes in India some 10(or was it 15) years ago also I guess. I rememeber seeing their ads in papers.
Any owners of the bikes sold in that time period on the forum?
All i can recollect it that they had 35 ltr fuel tanks. Or I am wrong on this one too?

Wishing them all the best in their second foray in Indian market.
I can only wish. Not contribute in terms of purchase.

I received communication from Motorrad that there were no immediate plans to launch bikes in India. This news comes as a complete contradiction to what I was told. Well it is good news in any case because I am LUSTING for the R1200GS-A. Get in line behind me!!

I wouldn't be surprised because the guys who reply to the emails are at much lower level & are not allowed to speak of any info other than the official spokesperson. So naturally they eithe might not know OR even if they know, they wouldn't leak the info before its officially declared. Haven't we seen news for internal circulation in our offices?

Well I wasn't emailing them...I was chatting with the guys responsible for the R1200GS and the K1600GT and GTL models. Anyway as long as these bikes land up here I'll be a happy camper.

Wink

Incredible this is a total surprise from BMW. A decade and half ago they used to sell a 650 tourer, I had seen a couple of them in Bangalore then. In fact one of them was still used a few years ago. They were sold by HH then. If I remember correctly they were charging a premium 3.5Lakh for those bikes. Seems like another second innings after Hyosung.

Well for all the news, it still remains news unless confirmed launch date with confirmed "price". I hope these news items are worth its salt. Hope GOI is listening and cuts down on the import duties for premium bikes or atleast allows for sub 800cc bikes to be imported. That would make a lot more sense.

Navneet is expecting the bikes in showrooms starting mid-Dec/early-Jan.
The ones destined for India are S1000RR, R1200GS and the K1300GT. Lets hope they have some sane pricing on these.
