Default Want to buy Used Audi Q5. How much should I pay?

Hello everybody,

I was wondering about buying a used Q5 diesel and was hoping that I could get some idea about rates. Somebody near Thrissur ,( broker won't give more details ) was asking 32 L for a 2009 last model ( must be the 3.0L) ,25000 KM done.

That's stretching my limit ,I was more or less in the 25L max range, given that the 2.0L is available at 39L ex showroom.

Also does the Q5 suffer from harsh ride ?, though most of the reviews I read online suggests to handling and ride as very good.

Any suggestions ?

Well, a new Q5 3L is now Rs 65L on the road in Bangalore. The 2.0L is Rs 55L. I see a used one on carwale advertised at around Rs 45L. Getting one for Rs 25L is pushing it.

As for the ride - I drive one last week, it is harsh at low speeds but improves at speed.

For your budget, I would consider the Nissan X trail or the Santa Fe

Ajmat...I think you are confusing the Q5 with the Q7 ?? 86L for a Q5 seems like robbery !!!

At any point of time Audi Q5 would be out of your budget. If your budget is 25 L you can go for a Mitsubishi Montero, BMW X1, Nissan X Trail 2010/11, Toyota prado VX.

Where has Ajmat mentioned 86L? I see 65L for 3.0TDI.

Sorry that was a typo...i meant 65L. Even that seemed too much for a Q5.

Yup 2.0TDI with Quattro is 54.XXL on road Bangalore and the 3.0TDI is 10L more.

3.0TDI has some goodies like panoramic sunroof and all.

The Q7 is upwards of 80L.

There is a H U G E difference in prices here. My friend bought a Q5 3.0 TDI with 14k on the odo for 45L a few months back, model 2010 end.

Unhappy Re: Audi Q5 -Used

Guys,
The Kerala pricing for the new Q5 2.0L would like this ,since our Road Tax (Lifetax) is 8% ( should be the same for all vehicles above 1500cc).

39 L +(8%) 3.2L = max 43L +insurance

Going by a recent purchase by a relative of mine , 2009 ,C220 ,diesel ,30,000KM, (new one is 30L ex-showroom ?) he got for 17L. Which is why I was cribbing for the 25L budget.

They sold Q5 in 2009? I thought they came up with Q5 recently.

IIRC the Q5 came to India around mid-2009, but it was a CBU then.

Maybe that's why the older models are asking for higher valuation. I am naturally working on the reduced newer CKD pricing.

Also a small correction on my earlier post :
New Q5 2.0L at Kochi is 40.3 ( and NOT 39L) +8% tax + insurance = @43.5L

Lightbulb Re: Want to buy Used Audi Q5. How much should I pay?

heyy jmktm,

the price for the latest Q5 2.0L is 39.5L (ex showroom delhi) and you could put in 4% as the road tax + registeration i.e. 1.5L + about 68-73K for the insurance (depends on many things like your previous insurance / NCB / new insurance / any schemes offered). In that case your new Q5 would be on road for say about 40L including 'minor' customisations. This does not include the dealer discounts (if any is offered) and how much can you haggle with the dealer .

A descently kept Q5 will not fit your budget of 25L under any circumstances. As there is a slight niggle with the Q5 at low speeds and if its not well maintained by the previous owner then the ride would unnecessarily get revved up at higher speeds as well .

If you are not off-roading that much and do not have the requirement for a 4 wheel ride, then go for the X1 (20d) or the CRV (petrol only), otherwise there is Santa Fe / Fortuner (a true beast - from what i remember of it ).

Must say I positively dislike full sized SUV's with their high roll center and bulk and hence the liking for the smaller Q5 etc. Also the Q5's LEDs and overall shape seem to have a particularly weakening effect on me..

And no off roading is planned as I have proper 4WD Mahindra 'jeeps' for that duty. ( I am a farmer and I do not mud plug/off road for fun ,I do it because it is my daily bread )

Maybe I should be looking at the Q3 ?

IMO, if you are not in a hurry, that should be the best bet, rather than buying a used Q5.
