You can get a armed forces disposal "ok types" CJ3B petrol from the local scrap dealers if you are lucky in a fairly restorable state. Otherwise its quite difficult to find one in the used market. You can also change it to a diesel engine jeep as per your requirements. Lots of people in Punjab and Haryana have been doing the same for quite some time now. I am not sure about your place.

Dear Naveen,

you can find the jeep in the Mayapuri market in delhi.
it is the largest scrap, used, new refurnished market in the country for jeep.
you can find Army auction jeep all models as well as gypsy also.
They do all kind of modifications starting from engine like fitting of new engine's of nissan 1700cc,1900cc,2400cc,2700cc & Toyota etc.
They would also fit alloys and tyre's.
They would get paper work also.
You can get a very good deal at a price of 1.25-2.5 lacs.

But do remember to bargin.

Thanks

Naveen, why search elsewhere. Go into the heart of god own country. We sure have many willys, cooper, cut chassis jeeps rusting or in good condition in kerala. Else come to chennai and try the army disposals. But not sure how to acquire them.

Try Kottayam, Idukki. There's a good chance that you'll be able to get one from these regions. My friend got a Willys with the original petrol engine from Kottayam, he replaced the engine with a diesel.

The petrol cooper engine(as it is called) is pretty refined and can be LPG converted. Matching a diesel engine to the gearbox has to be done carefully. Else the gearbox may get damaged due to hign power output from the engine.

2) 134CiD/ 2187cc 72/75Bhp F4-134 aka "Hurricane"

For further info check the CJ2A; CJ3A; CJ3B Page

The JEEP gearbox's available in India
T90 3 Speed
KMT90 4 Speed

These two gearboxes are rated at a flywheel torque of 30Kgm.
The engine petrol engines produce only 15-16Kgm Max.
