One of the best upper body workouts.

I love the Omni.

I had an Omni in the mid 90's. Loved driving it. Did a long trip Pune-Bangalore-Mysore-Ooty and return with 2 adults and 3 kids in supreme comfort.Too much pressure to get rid of it for being unsafe.

Also the most comfortable (non-ac ) taxi to be driven around in.

No way I can hate it

True I too cannot hate the Omni as its a people mover.Have travelled extensively on Omnis. They are stiffly sprung, fragile and unsafe but in an poor country like ours these thrive.Cannot imagine a small 798cc van ferrying 8 people legally with some luggage. Thats its USP and it sells.
In Gangtok these are used as trans city taxis extensively and do extremely well in the mountainous terrain on the Himalayas. They also cover long distances in the erstwhile tiny Himalayan kingdom.

+1 to the workout bit! My dad had two of these vans and they served us well. Cheap to maintain and great for short city drives. Everything was good so lond as you stayed under 50 km/hr.

Most cars today can do a 100+ kmph easily.

An omni makes its a lot more interesting.

It's one of the best taxis around. It has good interior and luggage space and is easy to maneuver and park in the city. Safety is an issue, but at city speeds, it's tough to have a high speed crash unless the driver is a lunatic. Anyway, the Sion Koliwada built Padmini cabs are no safer.

I just love it ! The only grouse about it is that there is absolutely no protection from a frontal impact !

Aw, come on! There is no protection on our bikes either. Think of it as a four wheeled bike!

It originally came as a high roof van. I think the shape was reintroduced fairly recently too.

Hate it. We always had one till we got rid of it about 5 years back. And then dad goes and gets another one. Its usually used for office work / as a workhorse but I still dont like it. Barely fits into a definition of a car, is extremely unsafe and uncomfortable. We had an aftermarket a/c which barely worked. The non-bucket seats and the absolutely stupid brakes make it a nerve wrecker. I used to be scared of the length while driving.

I have also seen it used as school buses packed with kids. I hope this vehicle is banned unless used as a cargo vehicle.
