Default SUV < 16L - options?

Hi Team,

This question if for my friend away from internet.

He has to chose a SUV (or call it 7 seater) for around 14-16L. We are looking at Endeavour and the TD/review at our side leaves a lot to be desired on shelling out that much money since ride comfort is the prominent factor we are looking at.

We are not for a) Scorpio - maintanence/reliability/ridecomfort after 1L kms

What options are there -
1) Is a pajero within reach?
2) New Safari - how does it fare
3) Scorpio Eagle 2.2 - whats the difference wrt to Scorpio
4) Vitara - is diesel expected?

or would we be forced to settle on a Innova (too common ) .

Thanks.

Default Do a search!

Do a search or browse through the what car section and you will find numerous posts that have discussed with frustration the points you talked about..

i suggest you look at the safari 2.2 though its not a good 7 seater.

the grand vitara dosent have third row seats?

the endy is good but you dont like its ride.

the pajero will not fit in your budget.

that leaves the innova. perfect 7 seater. look at it. if you find the power inadequate then get a petes box.

Is this budget Ex-Showroom or On-road.

Karnataka has huge RT, which can change the scenario.

Your friend has to decide if he wants a seven seater or an SUV. There is no SUV (at least south of 25L) that can seat 6 comfortably (forget 7).

If seating seven is the priority, Innova is the only choice in India. If SUV is desired then there are several options

No.

There is tons of info on Safari thread.

Checkout the Scorpio diesel thread. It is quite active as well.

But it isn't a seven seater.

Like it or not, that is the only choice if you are looking at seating seven.

The Innova V suits all your requirements, look no further. Don't worry about it being common - you'll have a good vehicle that will serve you long.

totally

@shan_jp
i read sumwhere, chevy was launching there 148bhp CRDi SUV Captiva, would be out in december, and i guess it would be like 20L though. not fitting in.

as compared to a safari 2.2vtt i would say an innova with a pete's box. somehow just don't trust tata.
but if youve got 16L to spare, you could well manage an innova in there and maybe even get a 3.0L engine, toyota gives out in videsh..

considering your requirements i think the innova will be the best option though its not in the class of the other vehicles....it has got great performance and handles really well...and anyday toyota is better compared to tata

IMO consider and Go for Safari/ Scorpio Eagle / Hawk ( whatever they name it)- somewhere in Feb Mar 2008- all initial issues will be sorted out in Safari and will be able to compare both vehicles. Scoprio is said that may come with a lot of goodies and safety features as well . If your friend is in hurry- can go for Safari VTT 2.2 ( choose specs as per your needs) and you/ he will not regret. In case, he could stretch budget and also wait- Captiva - I can bet is gonna be a good choice with everything and anything you can ask for in a SUVish car- but may be in 20lakhs range.

akshay i think Endeavour is awesome if its below 16 lacs

but i think endy is north of 16
are you sure you can get an endy for less than 16 lacs?
