The ratios of all the 2l engined vehicle from tata are same. If your getting a gearbox out of safari than I would suggest that one as the cars are usually used as private vehicles and so a lot of care is taken. but if you get a sumo one in good condition than get that one, the price is always an issue with these parts safari are lil bit expansive.

Hi Dinar

Thanks for the input. I got the gearbox of a 2004 Safari for 13K(may be expensive as you have told). Its in mint condition. Just mounting it in today. Need to check the overall performance as well. I just wish this is my last upgrade on my Car.

Will update you more with the details.

13K is pretty reasonable price for a safari gearbox, asking prices for these are quit high even in Bomaby [maka for used parts].
If your engine is in a good state and the clutch is good, than the performance will be good, Did you have do any work on the gearbox [ the new one]?

No. i didn't have to do any work on the gearbox. Just plug and play. I did a test drive yesterday and believe it or not, it was just amazing.. it easily crossed the 130 with a bliss of joy on my face.
