Exclamation Mitsubishi Pajero or Hyundai Tuscon ??

Hi

I have to look at buying an SUV due to a bad back. Sitting position has to be high & suspension on normal roads has to be good.

Have been looking at the two options namely :

# Pajero 2.8 2003/2004 around 9 - 9.5 Mint condition
# Hyundai Tuscon 2005 / 2006, mint, around 8.5 - 9.0

Both have done close to 60,000 kms. Drive well & look perfect. Please note I AM NOT BUYING FOR OFF-ROADING. It is simply what the doctor ordered !!

Please help me deciede !!

Thanks

if i were to choose out of those two
By heart it would have been pajero
by mind it would have been Tuscon
and i would recommend it too, since you do not plan for serious offroading, and its new compared to the age old pajero, and comes with a nice engine as well, only negative point against it is that it does not look like a macho SUV like a pajero

between those 2 id choose the tucson. no point in taking an old car like a pajero if its not for off roading. also the engine in the tucson is better.

also check out a new innova.

If you don't need off-road ability Tuscon is the way to go. It's a much more newer platform than the Pajero and since it is a car based platform it will be more comfy than the body on frame Parero. My cousin has one in Bangalore and he is very happy. He has done a little over 60,000 kms. It has a much more modern power plant compared to the Pajero.

Before Pajero fans lauch an attack on me, I just want to say that my personal choice would have been Pajero, but he has clearly said that he doesn't plan to go off-road and just wants a comfy SUV due to his bad back and between these two choices, I think the Tuscon is the way to go for him.

I'm with the rest, Innova is the best choice. It gives comfort levels that even SUV/MUVs triple it's price can't provide.

when it comes to cars, IMO, heart should rule over the head.
Mate, the pajero's for you. Believe me your doctor must have written tuscon as a back up , the pajero's what he must have recommended.
cheers

PAJERO. PAJERO & PAJERO only.

Its the dream SUV of many of people (including many BHPians).

but before buying throughly check the condition of the car & be prepared for the various service bills (especially when its a 6 year old PAJERO)

Thank you all for the sincere advice. I also prefer the Tuscon, for it's smaller size. Parts should also be easier on the pocket & ride quality a tad better than the Pajero. But the Pajero does have a presence.

Innova has been recommended by many & I personally find it very comfortable, but my driving is mostly all by my self, 95% of the time. I find the Innova too large (just my mindset)

Thanks guys for the inputs. Shall keep you updated as & when something comes up...

Cheers

Default Pajero or WHAT?

Except for Akshay1234, everybody calls the Pajero alternative the Tuscon, a nonsense name.

Is there a list rule that it should be called Tuscon instead of Tucson?

Just curious. It doesn't matter, since I don't have anything useful to say about either.

As it turns out the parts for the Tucson are VERY expensive, as I found out from a spare part dealer. The clutch I am told costs 60 K , a beading 12K & so on....

I think I will stay away...

Pajero seems like a good option. But I was surprised when my head touched the door arch when I was getting in :-( other wise the car drives well.

Looking now, at Pajeros only

Cheers
