Default Need help with Gypsy's engine

Hi all,

I need help from all the tech gurus on the forum. I have a Gypsy King which is an mpfi one. It was once driven without engine oil and the crank got bent and it was continously making typical crank noise. So its lying idle for more than 10 months now.

I also have a carb Esteem which is having lot of issues but the engine is intact and is in very good shape.

My question to you all is, Is it possible that I can swap the block of my Esteem with that of Gypsy ? I know the head is different in both the cars. Is there any other difference also like is there any difference in foundations as well ?

Should be possible. Half engine overhaul is just about what you are proposing. Caution do check if carb esteem and mpfi esteem had any change in the block. Not to my knowledge but just do check.

Default Re: Gypsy King - Carb or MPFi?

Resurrecting this old thread. Someone is selling an old 91 Carb Gypsy. What should I be looking for in these old carb vehicles? What problems should I be looking for? From the posts, seems like it is better to pick a MPFI vs a carb...guys your inputs please.

You won't have a place for the crank sensor if there is one

Guys,i own a 97 gypsy king mg413 carb. I work in an NGO along with the forest dept. The problem now is, the 4wd shifter is not engaging to 2H., it can either be shifted to 4L or 4H..if the shifter is positioned to 2H, vehicle doesn't move. But the fact is, my front wheels are not spinning atall..its actually in 2WD, i tested it in slush and mud terrains. What can be wrong? A help will be much appreciated.
