.
Numerically 3.0 > 2.2 but at the same time 140 > 115 , yes 2.2 VTT produces 140 PS and more torque then 3.0 and creates less noise.

Additionally weight of engine is reduced by 80 Kg and fuel efficiency improved.
so sometimes puny may be better.

No it isnt, its naturally aspired, a mere 75 bhp, that is why asked for a turbo, the turbo was introduced with the new 2.5L in the innova

If you want image, looks and comfort for the price ,don't look further than Safari 2.2.But there might be small quality issues. For that matter even mHawk may not be any better quality wise .For the price, it is very Value for money,if you can overlook some small problems which could give an occasional headache for the perfectionist mind.If you plan to drive it yourself, a Safari is quite fun to drive. Innova is very car like, easy to handle and comfortable over decent roads. But Safari shows the truck roots more evidently and you will have to adapt your driving style.Having said that, a long drive in Safari is more comfortable and fun.Innova does not handle seriously damaged roads that well. But a drive in Safari feels like the air cushioned ride of a Volvo bus. Innova will be more reliable in the long run.But a safari if maintained well can last a long time.

If only SUV - only Safari VX

If MUV/ SUV - Innova

Take your dad to see both cars and let him choose based on the drive that he enjoys most.

good suggestion this as per my lights
but for his dad he might prefer the top end Innova - cannot go wrong with that.
Safari vs Innova - for Dad's, the Innova wins hands down any day of the week.Unless the Dad is like Indiana Jones.

cheers

nothing like a used pajero.. love the feel of it. reliability will be top notch and you can get a relative bargain on a used one. will match all your criterias, just the matter of fact it will be a used one. but what difference does it mke if you get about 2 yrs old 25-40k on the clock for about 13-15 lacs. will be almost new.

If its only new one, I would say nothing like an innova, it may not look like a jeep or as manly as you want but its very comfortable and your dad will love it. Reliability, after sales and resale price will be excellent and I am sure its good to drive as well. Safari I wont recommend as its your dad who will either drive it or be driven around. If it would have been you safari would have been good.

go for a top end model of innova. its got all the required features and the seats are very very comfortable.

yes there are, tata is coming out with new safari, mahindra is coming out with new MUV/SUV, so if you want to wait please do so and have a look at new launches and decide.
Macho looks and SUV stands for Safari.try to source a used pajero and it would solve your queries if second hand isnt an issue with your purchase.

No one seems to be of the opinion that Scorpio MHawk is a decent if not good SUV in the price range being discussed here. Any particular reasons guys?

Scorpio M-Hawk is an awesome vehicle but since the would owner is not favourably disposed to it and is favouring towards the Safari, nobody mentioned it.
