@Gaurav, this looks real tempting. I have actually not thought about it as it may not be available.

Outlander is 20+ on road and in a year does the value come down by 6 lacs, what's really wrong here.

Not sure but I believe the car costs around 24 here in Delhi, so its a 10lac depreciation. Nothing wrong with the car, just that its an HM-Mitsubishi, so resale up here in North is bad.

I got a 1.5yr old cedia with 22k on the clock for 5lac rupees. Resale of Mitsubishis are bad and fortuner has made things further worse.

Hondadude by price I mean Scorpio AT not worth/expensive it at 11.8 lacs.

With regards to sedan options that to is limited in new (in the stated budget). Which leaves the option of 2nd hand sedans of the following kind:

1) Saw some good 05 to 2007 Octavia Diesel A/T's going at 5 to 7 lacs with 20 to 30k found them to be good strong cars with good ride, but we are all tall folks so found legroom limiting.
2) Laura - Good deals on 05 to 08 AT's at 8 to 9 lacs - But ride to hard for me

More options in older luxury/premium cars like C/E class etc.

@canonball, we have see the problems faced by Skoda customers who have purchased new cars.

I wouldn't really dare to buy a used Skoda.

Would love to know more behind that statement.

When I look at what is on offer, the price is par for the course. Considering that it is AT with 4x4, ABS and Airbags, the nearest competitor is Ford Endeavour at 18 lakhs ex-showroom.

Considering that, the price of Scorp AT pricing is OK or so I feel.

Have been researching Scorpio AT (+4WD) for quite some time now.
Though I personally would prefer a MM540 or Willy Jeep.

But:
> Considering the need for the comforts of a car (as needed by family)
> I am used to the comfort of driving a Santro AT
> Considering the price tag (though feel its high for a Scorpio)
> No hassles of a used car (owned a 1996 Zen, fantastic car, I miss it even now but for the maintenance)
> MM's service support
> And consolation that it comes from the jeep legacy

Scorpio AT seems to be the best bet available.

I hear that they will be announcing free insurance on the Scorpio soon. If so, this is the best time to buy one. I think I will buy one.

Thanks Raj, even I am contemplating whether to go for a Pre owned SUV or a new sedan. do you have an idea a rough estimate as to what will be upkeep maintenance cost of such "exotic" vehicles.

I was also high over scorpio but then Scorpio is not in my priority list right now, as i feel the price is too high for it. My wife wants to drive and she is not very much inclined towards it. As such, have dropped scorpio as of now.

I am seriously looking at i10 and i20 AT versions and in all probability will go for i10.

I have selected Blushing Red and Magna (Base modiel), i want to add on the alloy wheels and music system etc so did not go for the top model.

In chennai, we can take immediate delivery. They said the vehicles are available in factory.
