P.S - Does Volvo have a service centre in Chennai?
Is Cayenn a a 7 seater ? I dont think so.
And yes Maya motors in Ambatur does the servicing for volvo , the volvo salesman also told me there is spanking new showroom which would be ready in another 3 months time to display all the 9 models including the xc60.

The XC90 is defintiely worth considering.

The toureg great vehicle but agin is a 5 seater.

Montero is a great vehicle again but would want something more presticious. and x5 again a 5 seater.

What do you guys think of the newly launched prado .One thing is cant imagine the less than half in value fortuner shares the same engine with it and only the electrical's vary.

For your query these might help you in the following sequence.
Volvo's XC90 (Safest), Freelander, Toyota Prado, Audi Q7 (Rs 52L - Rs 66L), Mitsubishi Montero (Its monocoque body, called Pajero outside India), GM Captiva.
Again it depends on personal taste.

Nope. Its not. By 7, do you mean 7 adults? AFAIK, none of the SUV's give a comfy 3rd row (where an adult can fit in decently). Only kids can fit in most. Ofcourse, except the Merc GL class.

the xc90 is definitely a consideration and the discovery 4 is going to be considered .But the nearest dealer is secunderabad which is a cause of worry. And the price for the discovery is around 71 lakhs on road.
Servicing again would be a problem.

Something more prestigious is needed. We have already got an endeavour in that range.

Test drove 3 vehicles today. The first one was the toureg whose engine impressed me a lot but the brakes were terribly bad , engine was a touch too noisy and again only a 5 seater.

The xc90 .faultless for the initial slugishness and little worried about the after sales and maintenance because they dont have a proper service centre. they have tied up with mitsubishi.

The prado diesel was amazing but agin the thought of the fortuner having the same engine was a turn off.

An SUV as a seven seater would never be comfortable for seven adults. This includes latest GL offering from MB whose last row I tried at Auto-Expo but was disappointed.

That said, GL is the roomier but expensive option eventhough the performance is nothing to write home about. Somehow I have a soft corner for XC90 as I have found its seats and internal packaging to be very practical and user-friendly. Again last two seats are essentially for kids or short adults. Go for it if you have a service center nearby.

So guys thank you for all your inputs. I have narrowed the option's down to 2 .
XC90 and the prado3.0 .

Still confused between the 2.
The landcruiser is a whole 9 lakhs more than the 90 and it has got 15 horses less.

Anyways i am not in a position to find a review or roadtest about the xc90 ?

Go for the prado if you want to go offroading. If the tarmac is the only thing you will drive on, go for the XC90. Its one of the safest vehicles out there. But service might be an issue.
Land Rover Discovery is another great option.

Would love to prefer the discovery to both the vehicles but the thing is , its again another 11 lakhs more expensive than the prado.

So it should be the prado mostly.

Hey isn't the Land Cruiser around 81ish?? But boy does that car have the stance and grace which disguises its actual wicked capabilities.
Go for it and you wont be disappointed for sure.

Thaths the big one (4.5ltr v8 with 66kgm) . And the big one costs a staggering 99 laks with the jbl audio package.

This one am talking about is the prado. The one with the fortuners engine but with 5kgm more torque with lots of electricals added.

Anyways spoke to porsche and they told me the diesel cayenne is currently not available in india and it has been on sale only in south africa !
No idea of the price also.
So i think would settle for the prado.

The Merc GL is the most practical 7 seater in the range. I test drove on and the third row is very usable by adults. It would be my first choice in this price range.

The latest Prado has been launched with a diesel engine. This may also be a good bet.
