Ooty/Conoor has a lot of Armadas thriving in.
Also, Salem and Thiruchengode areas have lots of them. But the issue would the TN registration. Since you intend to use it in Bangalore, be prepared to pay the life tax and re-registration.

Try a used Gypsy. It should be cheap and good. Good resale too

2L for this seems quite high,it should be around 1.5L or something.
it also has leaf spring suspension all around, and price is around 80k to 1 lac for a good vehicle.

Default Another Armada grand

Continuing my quest for an Armada Grand, I saw another one today, Albeit a Kerela regn.
'99 model, run 1,16K. Asking price is 1.5Lakhs.
Kindly see the pics and advice what my counter offer would be.
I started the engine and seems to sound ok. Not an expert on diesel engines though.
Can someone advice regarding the highway cruising speed and the fuel efficiency of the armada grand? Is the engine and underpinings the same as the Bolero without ILS

From the looks of the pedals it has run more than 1.16K - may be 3.16Ks?
The exterior looks ok, however the interiors clearly tell the story. Please stay away from this.

Exteriors is a shoddy paint work. The car is 11 years old. and will cost me 1.5 Lakhs. At this price range, I don't have many options. Kindly advice counter offer.

+1. Get a CJ or any other MM Jeep, would be a classic to own, can take abuse and who knows you might suddenly get hooked on to offroading and stuff .

Other option is since you are in a rural area, can you not buy a bolero etc from Bangalore and use it in your current city? The smaller towns are not so hard on the out of state registration and you being a doctor, the Plus sign on your vehicle carries a lot of respect. So I dont see the cops harassing you that much

If I were you, I would stay away from agents. Better is to pick up from known sources or our very own TBHP classifieds

CJ or MM Jeep does not cruise at speeds of ~100kph.
And yes registration is not a problem.
Out here agents are the only way to find cars. Classifieds are virtually non existent.

This example looks decently kept. Remember it is an old vehicle and you can not expect mint condition on it.

I would have started from 80k and stopped at 1.25k. max

Remember after puschase you would have to refurbish the interiors either way.

It can cruise at ~100kmph. Anything above it would be stressing out the engine. Mileage would be 10-12 Kmpl. The engine (XD3P) and the gearbox (BA10) is indeed the same as that of the good old Bolero GLX. Except for the Independent suspension at the front, the under pinnings are the same as that of the Bolero. Something around 80k-1L would be a good price to ask for.
