Guys,
Any idea how will be there the weather there during our visit .
The reason why i ask is because some of us are going along with your little ones and i guess that will help us to take necessary stuff along with us .

Cheers

For the kids, do take something warm. At least a light sweater for yourself - esp for the mornings. Daytime should be pleasant - my guess.

For February - it is mostly dry and warm weather during the day. Sometimes an unexpected rain / shower will ensue in the late evenings. The nights can get pretty cold, but nothing alarming. Early february mornings in Chikmagalur (or most other places in the western ghats) will be misty and cool and it stays foggy until around 9-10am. Sweaters/windcheaters should do the job

For the estate/plantation/forest trek or walk, we shouldn't be facing leech attacks in this (dry) time of the year, but it would help to carry a packet of salt just in case the pests show up to spoil the party

That's a good idea Karthik! I also read somewhere on T-BHP that applying Amruthanjan (or alternates) on our legs is a very easy way to keep leeches and other biting insects away.

Guys,

Weather is fantastic. The best you can get. Chilly mornings and evenings with warm afternoons. Take light warm clothing for kids. Since you are not going to Mullayyanagiri for Sunrise, chill won't be that problem.

No worries on leeches at this time of the year.

Fauji, I thought you were also going to update us on the condition of the roads ! I'd like an update on the Nelamangala - Hassan section.

Just travelled yesterday on this stretch. Roads are very good, although four landing works is in progress. Only thing is, you might encounter slow moving traffic at C.R.Patna.

@chikku, traffic inside CR patna & Hassan is slow. Typical non-urban areas, esp in CR Patna. No diff between man, machine & mammals there - every one keeps moving together, at almost the same pace !!

When i visited around 3 weeks back it was pleasant throughout the day and late evenings was slightly chilly. We were up till 1am chit chatting and post 10pm it was very cold.

Looking forward to the weekend.

Condor,

The road is fantastic. From Nelamangala till Bellur cross it is a beautiful four lane road. No toll as of now. After that it is a double lane till Chikkamagalur. But road condition throughout is good. After Belur, the potholes have been filled up recently. Except for the perennial stretch of one KM near Hiremagalur - just before CKM - it is overall a very good road.

Fortnight ago, we left Electronic City NICE road toll gate at 5 PM and we were in CKM by 9 PM comfortably. I captured in my TL here.

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/travel...iri-bekal.html (Fauji's drivologues - Marriage an excuse, Drive a pleasure - Mullayanagiri and Bekal)

Since you are driving in the morning, it will be quicker. You can comfortably make it to Eagle resort for lunch even if you stop at Halebidu for 45 Mins to go around and see the temple.

Could we have the final meeting list / locations for saturday morning? I know just this initial part of the list. Others could fill in the meeting point where they plan to join in. That way, we would know whom to wait for at specific points and could coordinate via phone calls.

HSR IndianOil pump (4.45 am):

Schoudhury - maroon Ritz
Alter_Ego - white Safari
CorsaLove - silver i20

IIMB, Bannerghatta road (5 am):

ssjr0498 - honda city
KarthikK - black Linea T-Jet

NICE Bannerghatta road entry point (5.15 am):

guyfrmblr - black i20 crdi
asdon - red punto

NICE Kanakapura road entry point:

Shamanth - FZ-S

NICE Tumkur road exit to NH 4:

NH 4 - NH 48 intersection (final meeting point):

Add more internal meeting points if there are any more left out here, I am not sure what is the plan for those coming from north b'lore. Are you guys coming to the NH48 point directly?

I will join you all near the NH4-NH48 intersection.

I have never been on this stretch (NH48), so could you please let me know if there are any sign boards or anything else I should look out for before taking the left?

This NH48 intersection is around 15km from the NICE - NH4 intersection. If you're coming from Tumkur road (NH4), NH48 breaks off from NH4 to your left. You would find a board titled "Mangalore" or "Hassan" and indicating to you to take a left turn. This is where you need to turn into NH48. Attaching google maps link

NH 4 to Mangalore - Bangalore Highway - Google Maps

Assuming you are coming from point A from inside Bangalore, you would get NICE intersection first (point B), and then point C (Mangalore/Hassan deviation). The meeting will be at point D, a short distance away from the turning where there is place to park these many cars.

If I am not wrong, we need to take the first left after the elevated expressway ends

Much further. Go about 5-6 km after the toll. Keep going till you see exit signs for Hassan / Mangalore. Then move to the service road. Take left where the NH4 intersects NH48 (NH48 goes underneath NH4)

The service road also slopes downward /downhill at this point. The exit is a little after Agarwal Bhavan (restaurant) on the left /service road.
