Happy to see more and more spirited events to Himalayas. I wish if I was a bachelor and jobless and blessed with a silver spoon .

Hi Suraj!

Did you guys go ahead with the plan considering the current road condition and rain?

If yes, please update conditions here as we are planning to do Shimla-Kaza-Manali starting 22nd june.

Hi KSM,

Nice to know that you are undergoing this trip as well! Yes, we did go ahead with the plan; considering that on 17th morning at Rampur we decided to scrap the plan as the road ahead from Rampur towards Peo had been blocked. We decided to go to Kasaul instead and plan after we reach there. By 18th when we reached Kasaul, we got the news that the road towards Kaza was clear. We did Rohtang the next day and the stretch therein was perfect notwithstanding specific muddy patches. We took a detour from the road going towards Keylong to Spiti Valley as the weather was perfect and we were planning to camp in Chadertaal. Maybe the Almighty didnt want us there and just 8 km from Chandertaal the road was broken with ice and a BRO ice-mover was busy making an alternative route. We were informed that it'll be ready in 2 hours but when it didnt, we returned back to Raison and departed for McLeodGanj the next morning.

All in all, the route should be doable now, so best of luck for the trip. Posting a couple of pics of the repair work being done near Chandertaal.

PS: I just reached Delhi from Manali yesterday night at 11:10pm. Started from there, at 11:30 in the morning. Total kms covered: 615km. So, SORRY for the late reply.
