It's great to see alternate plans coming up. That's the spirit. Rain and bad roads cannot dampen the spirit of Tbhp.

Because if you guys decide Pune or the likes, we bikers cannot ride along. (Not allowed on the expressway)
Looks like Malshej is not really happening.
parrys, the old road to Pune (NH4) is really better - scenic and this is the season to drive/ride through that road. It will be great. I normally use that road to go to Pune, if I'm not in a hurry.

route. Shilphata roads are in very bad shape I heard. So we can meet others at the below point (Blue circle)

And we can also follow the Duma secretly from EEH .
Dodge_Viper, can you PM me your number? I cannot send PM.

It sounds perfect to me, but would the drivers agree to take that route.

Anyway, all will be in different cars and bikes. Meeting at the final spot is when everyone will be together rt. And I don't think there will be / there will be a need for a stop between Panvel and Pune.

Agree with JohnyBoy. Its a much better route with very less traffic and an awesome greenery all around. The roads are also in good condition. I just used it 2 weeks back. Definitely recommended.

Malshej Ghat as of now looks a little dicey.
And good to see many alternate plans.
Final decision on Malshej Ghat will be taken tomorrow evening.
I'm looking at an option called the Golden Hills Resort near Igatpuri. I'm going to call them tomorrow and check with them.
If we plan to go to Lonavala then I have a friend who is driving with us have a bungalow there Which can accommodate about 10-12 cars. We will need to avoid Bhushi dam area.
Anyways, fingers crossed for the Malshej Ghat Drive.

Oops. Had replied from mobile, I guess it was removed by mistake .

Well, it seems the landslide is quite serious one. Take a look at the below pic.

Read in Loksatta today. Malshej Ghat closed for 4 days.
So we do it next weekend.
So please help me finalise for tomorrow's drive.
I have two options - Igatpuri or Lonavala. Both are places without traffic and also are not isolated so that families will not have problems.

That's sad that Malshej is closed for 4 days. I'm ok with both Igatpuri or Lonavala.
I feel Igatpuri would be a shade better considering the biker folks, though we do have the old NH4 option for Lonavala as well.

Anyways watching this space closely to see which one is confirmed.

Red face Re: 2013 Monsoon Drives

Sorry folks, I will pull out of tomorrow's drive and will join the Malshej drive whenever that happens. Not really interested in either Igatpuri or Lonavala drives (neither is my family).

Enjoy the drive for tomorros wherever its planned.

Just a suggestion - why not explore something on the NH8 route. For example Dabhosa waterfall near Jawahar.

I prefer Igatpuri. The Expressway exit is in really bad shape & people are literally spending hours to cross the stretch. Also the hotels (for lunch) will have long waiting list.

Thanks,

Good idea there ghodlur. If it is dabhosa or something would you be able to make it tomorrow?

The NH8 drive was done last month. So I guess Igatpuri looks interesting now. Coz the lonavala option is also out.
I'll call and check with the golden hills resort. EagleEye is suggesting of bhandardara. I don't know that place so someone can put light on that so that we can think of it as an option.
BTW someone told me that the work on NH222 is almost done. So will take a call by tonite.
But need to keep the other options open
