When we stayed in Grange 3/4 years back, early in the morning at around 6.30 AM when about 6 of us were chatting in front of what I assume must be the Super Deluxe Cottages (we paid same rates for all of them), the one one opposite the restaurant, from near the swimming pool I was seeing something with two horns walking towards us behind the bushes, only to realise when it comes in full view this is not a normal cow/buffalo but a fully grown male bison. Altamash from Grange resorts (dunno if he is still there, he used to be close to the owner of the property) started screaming from the top of his voice asking us to jump into the cottage. The bison was promptly chased away with the help of couple of staff from the resorts.

My only thought after that couple of minutes was that I could not take a snap because of the prescence of a couple of girls who were shrieking away to glory.

Raj calls me at about 5:00, saying they are at Gauribidanur. An hour plus behind schedule. I get ready, load my gear, and head out to BLR Cantt after a fuel top-up. The guys are waiting at the station. A quick sync-up with Khan Sultan, and we head straight for A2B Chinnar.

Hosur has us taking a quick in-traffic break as we wait for the road to be cleared of a toppled 407. A light munch in the truck helps push us till we reach A2B for b'fast. Didnt want our delay to hold up the rest of the bunch, so they went ahead.

The drive is easy, never breaking sweat. Started the climb, and 500m of elevation later, things still seemed warm for a hill-station. Salem was spread out below us, and the extent of mining was obvious.

MansIdea & family are waiting for us, joined by the rest of the BLR guys. Just managed to catch lunch, and at 3.30, walked across to check the ATV's.

150 for a short 2 min ride, 350 for a slightly longer one, and 1500 for a big one. Personally felt it over-priced. Else would have been fun.

Started to rain, so we had to rush the trucks into a rescue act to get all home. The rain stopped as quickly as it started, and we're back to planning what's next.

Young George is all fired up, and the enthusiasm rubs off on the others. Patch Boy gets the hint, and Khan Sultan seemed to be waiting for this. The rains have given Khan Sultan some good ideas ..

Yercaud reminds me of Coorg. A Not so commercialised, Non-polluted Hill station with tempting country sides,





beautiful valleys,


Narrow but romantic roads,




spotless


with full of coffee plantations.

For me it was an unwinding trip with family. Checked out the famous montfort school & had a tour inside the campus. it is beautiful. then the lake, a water falls & view points etc before the arrival of the tbhpians.

This is what made me excited when we entered The Grange.


It was not as easy as it looked. (the gadgets guy with the gloves can comment here )


but a couple of drives are sufficient to make it handy.


Khan made it exciting with his lovely ride & i had my bit of OTR with his King. Then it was condor's turn & he learned his share too with a petrol machine. - 1st gear - 4L - momentum.

As i mentioned earlier i didnt click much or rather it was more of family pics. Expecting Condor, patchyboy, bottle or KKr2K2 to continue...

He's so much at home off-the-road. You should have seen him on that trail later at night. The turns he took between trees would have put every auto-driver worth his salt, to shame.

Brief stop after getting down.


SUMOs leaving to leave the Hyd guys to Salem Junction


Then we met Madan in the BPCL on the way (near Omalur) and after the breif stop there continued. We had a brief stop again just before Dharmapuri for refreshing. I call condor and he says he is somewhere between Salem & Dharmapuri. So, we told him to continue and we will let him know the hotel name and landmark once we reach there.

Started and took the Dharmapuri By-Pass. When we reach the "T" junction, we again had a brief stop for all the cars to assemble. We were surprised that even Condor made it in this place on that time.

Ok, here is the "T" junction to be careful. This is the junction you will end up if you are taking the Dharmapuri By-Pass.

Straight or Right?



You can either head straight to Bangalore through Palacode, Royakotai, and Attibelle or take right and enter to the Dharmapuri town and then take left to join back to NH7.

We took the right to go to Dharmapuri thinking we will get the NH7 shorlty. Then we saw the NH7 and took the left immd.

Unfortunately, we were too early for the bridge. It was still in construction. So, we took a round about and went into Dharmapuri town.

From there, we took the left in the junction and reached the NH7.

Since we could not get any good hotel on the way, we decided to have lunch in Hotel Tamilnadu in Krishnagiri.
