By around 25th of this month, I will be searching around for place to have a meet at Vadodara bypass or near by.

With the common understanding that those coming from Mumbai will not have time to go towards A'bad on NH8 ( basically divert from expresshighway a bit for meet near Baroda ) for some kilometers for convenient location of spending one hour, I will be searching around the place before Vadodara.

If Vadodara is not planned as overnight halt, entering city is out of place.
And if I along with Vadodara members are not able to find some good location, there is one last plan in my mind.

A'bad is not very far from Vadodara, so the Vadodara members will be coming to A'bad at the meeting point. This way Vadodara members will also have an oppotunity to meet A'bad TBHP members. This is last resort.

Any plans, suggestions are welcome.

Sir, I think the dates are fixed and starting date is 7th Feb. So by what date can we expect the group to be in Vadodara/A'bad ?

The idea is to stay at Hotel Anjali off Ahmedabad on the Himmatnagar, 7 kms from the Chiloda Round. Date for Baroda/Ahmedabad is Feb 8.

What is the plan ?
Is the GQ drive going to be BLR-MBM-DL-KLK-CHN-BLR or vice versa?
is it clockwise or anti-clockwise

Since the recent GQ run was done like b-m-d-k-c-b i guess it would be a good idea to do it the other way round. What say?

HI, I live in Pune now and will be driving to Bangalore on 26th, then to Chennai, Coimbatore abd back to Bangalore. I am planning to ask my driver to come down to bangalore and pick up my car and drive it back to pune, If its Ok with you I am willing to join you in your car to Pune /Mumbai. on the 7th if the GQ drive takes place. Just for your info GSMINC, I have over 500000 kms driving experience, hence i can Co-drive with you if its ok with you.

Kumar Sare I am in From Banglore to Mumbai if the GQ takes place now.

Lot of smoke, but no fire. I think it can be safely concluded now that there is hardly any interest in the GQ Drive plan. I am sure some enthusiastic drivers will be sorely disappointed, but anyone who is planning to do the drive on their own, or in smaller groups, please be free to contact me - I will be happy to advise them on the route, driving conditions and itinerary.

I guess we can treat this thread as closed for further discussions.

The trip is scheduled to start on Feb 7 from Bangalore, and run for 12 days thereafter.

Overnight halt destinations are not finalised and hotel bookings will depend on place of stay and number of participants.

The costs being considerable, pooling is the way to go, but there have been hardly any pooling plans announced so far.

Originally, the trip was planned with several tbhp meets en route, but so far only the Baroda and Calcutta teams have evinced interest in hosting any meets.

The recent 6 Day GQ Drive has thrown up enough evidence on how difficult the drive can be and the necessity to prepare very earnestly - both the car and its driver.

@HVK, I am still on for the Vizag - Chennai stretch. Just a query, if we are doing pooling, how are we going to get the expenses pooled between people who are doing a stretch and those who are doing the entire distance.

I would suggest that we restrict the number of cars who are doing the entire distance so that we could maximize the number of people who would go in each of these cars. The expenses incurred by this team could be shared among those who did the entire stretch something like the one which you guys did in December. Those who are doing part stretches could bear the expenses by themselves, I feel this would make a lot more sense than trying to get a pooling done over the entire team.

Team - Feel free to share your thoughts.

hvkumar, this seems as an great anticlimax.
After talking for a month or so & after having almost 300 posts on this thread, we seem have a situation where most of us are chickening out (forgive my language).
I am ready to do this GQ trip even on just my car. Can some of you join me atleast?

Please let me know if you need any help. It is a wonderful drive and you will enjoy it. Not to worry, roads are fine, driving conditions safe and if you wish I can even come up with ideas for short detours off the GQ.
