I hope the couple of days at Manali are not in the hope of acclimatizing. Does not happen at 7000 feet AMSL!
You'd do better spending a night at Keylong/Jispa/Darcha. Certainly not Sarchu right after Manali.

Why can't you guys leave at 330-400am the time that taxis leave?

If you will leave at 8am, you will always get alot of jam 2 hrs, 3 hrs - how does it matter?
If starting from Manali then what you say is right.
I am going to Sissu from Ropar, so will cross manali at 3pm approx

No Anup thats not why - its a longish trip with time to "stand and stare"! We're also stopping at Jispa as well as Sarchu - we dont really have a very fixed timetable - will go to Leh & out through Srinagar, stopping wherever we fancy at that time.

Starting tomorrow (flying into Delhi) - can't wait!

APS, since you are going before us, can you update on Rohtang Jam status etc., if possible.
Send an SMS or something like "all clear, no jams" or "Hell has broken loose, and entire india has descended on Rohtang"
Mid to end july situation was horrendous, I hope on the 21st weekend things are better

Enviable!
Enjoy your trip.
On the return journey, don't forget to stay a night at Pahalgam, an oft overlooked place!

Thanks Anup - will do that! We generally actively look for the "overlooked" places - lol!

I am in my jeep

will be in manali for a day or two only to stalk-up, no point for a long hault, will stay for three four days on my way back, cause a littel rest would be required.

Just came back from my Trip, crossed Rohtang on 7th and it was a big mess. The worst of all the passes on the sector. Mud, slush, water, gravel, stones, pits, craters, ditches and then comes the traffic. The tourist trafic is extremely low, no snow on Rohtang.

I was there in Early June and Early July as well, but this time was worse.
