Joel my observation is based on driving cars like the esteem, ohc, cedia, swift and not just the baleno and comparing them to the RS, Sonata & elantra. If you go through the posts, even Ajmat says the same about the longer runs on his Vtec. But all this is for a different thread all together.

No sir, I would still maintain - you need to attend a few meets (of different kinds) to figure it out.

Nice handle MudMover - you into off-roading?

No argument with you there, nothing beats the scene of being there real-time. So that's why I'm tentatively planning to go for Khan Sultan's OTR event this Sunday - it will be like a mini TBHP meet I guess. Nope, never gone anywhere near off-roading -- another reason why I don't want to miss the Sunday event!

Well lemme say this... have driven quite a few vtecs - both stock and ones with mild mods and its more hype than reality. Yes it has a nice top end but getting to the speeds that mcl and the elantra chaps are talking about will take an eternity in them.

No offence to vtec owners but the car is not in the same league however much you folks whine about it. Drive a higher segment car and you'll realize what you folks are missing.

About this carbon fibre requirement- I'm not sure that will work, because carbon fibre, though strong, is really really light.
Old fashioned Brass/Stainless steel is best IMMO*. It will give the Substantial "feel" that is necessary for these parts,in addition to the basic requirement of tensile strength/structural integrity.
As an automotive forum we do obsess about weight reduction, but in some parts, added weight is a bonus. I vote for Brass.

EDIT- FAAAAAST sometimes has to be sacrificed for Feeel.

I never said the Cedia is any faster... it struggles to hit the double ton as well . But atleast its good at corner carving.

Damn! I missed this one by a couple of days, else I would've been there with my trusty "Built Like A Tank".

Bangalore meets are something else. No unexpected offroading, though?
