Default Vaahan Yatra 2009

Vaahan Yatra 2009, 7th to 10th August
Venue: Gayathri Vihar, Palace Grounds

I got a chance to visit South India's biggest(so called) auto expo on the 8th of Aug thanks to free pass from the website yatraexhibits.com(seriously worth it).

Well, as it was a Saturday,it was jam packed. The AC too was running out of cool air. We were welcomed by the Tata Xenon Pick-up. It truly has an amazing presence when seen in flesh. Upon entering, we had the Tata and Maruti Suzuki stalls on either sides. Maruti had their Wagon-R,A-Star,Ritz,SX4 whereas Tata had the Sumo Grande,Safari,Indica Vista,Indigo CS. The next section was dedicated to NEO wheels who had a small range of mag wheels on display. Their opposite stall consisted of ATV,Dune buggies,E-cycles. Fiat had a stall next and had their Multijets lined up in the form of Palio,Linea and the Punto. As expected the Punto was the major crowd puller. The next stall was that of two 'H's; Honda and Hyundai. Honda had the Accord V6 and the Jazz. Hyundai had their i20 CRDi and the i10. Toyota had the New Camry and Altis Sport Limited Edition(looks nice with that body kit and special colour)on display. Skoda was next with their TDi models in the guise of Laura,Fabia and the Superb. The Superb is really humongous in size. At the end of the first hall there was Chameleon tuners with a modded Jazz, Lancer, Honda City,Octavia and a couple of mini bikes. The white Jazz with a body kit and projector lamps was looking neat. The phase 2 of the hall had 2 wheeler manufacturers in Suzuki, Yamaha and Royal Enfield. These were the most crowded stalls in the entire expo. Yamaha had their entire FZ range(FZ16,Fazer,FZ-S), the R15(in new sports colours) and their flagship the R1. Suzuki was loaded with a stall for their 150cc GS150R which was kinda deserted due to the presence of the legends; the Hayabusa GSX1300 and the Boulevard M1800. These were really two great masterpieces.
Other stall had auto accessories like car maintainence stuff, aftermarket stuff, GPS equipment.

The most surprising part was that a Tata Nano was kept on display at the end of the expo and was least bothered by the crowd. Looks like all the Nano hype has vanished.

On the whole the expo was OK. Its really not worth the Rs 49/- entry ticket. Adjoining this expo was a Furniture expo too which too had its share of crowd. This Vaahan Yatra was much much better than the earlier edition at KTPO,Whitefield. Well, I am posting some clicks of the expo. Take a look.

Wow Chameleon already managed to ruin a Jazz so fast.

The black and orange swift is a direct lift from 2007's JBL stall, the JBL twins.

Vaahan Yatra about 4 years back organised at the Kanteerva Indoor Stadium was worth a look. But after that it has been loosing ground. But this year's slightly better than last year's at whitefield.

We Bangaloreans need something bigger than this, ala Delhi Expo.

@avinash aka 14000rpm: Well, the Chameleon stall had nothing outstanding apart from that Civic,Swift,Jazz. They had a very badly done Honda City(previous generation) and an ordinary looking Lancer and Octavia.
