I have been following this thread since its inception and I know I was the first to enthusiastically nod for the Bijapur trip during the Dec 08 meet. I will not be able to join you guys for this trip as my wife has other plans to take advantage of this long weekend to visit my BIL in Chennai.

So, Warangal it is huh?. Looks like it would be a pretty good drive meet. Enjoy you guys. Drive safe and responsibly.

Hope to see you around regularly for upcoming meets.
I wish I could attend every one of them Avinash. You might know construction work of my house is taking most of my time. I hope to be a regular probably after 6 months.

Glad to see regular meets and Hyd THP growing day by day.

Lightbulb Possible New Location

Guys, one of my office colleagues went to this place couple of weeks back....Open to suggestions for change of venue.

Kuntala Waterfalls

The Place:
Kuntala waterfall is identified as the highest waterfalls of AP. The cascade attracts visitors from far and wide. While rainy season is the best time to visit, anytime other than summer, is right time.

Location:
At a distance of 200 km from Hyderabad on National Highway 7 (Hyderabad – Nagpur – New Delhi), Kuntala waterfalls, located near a village with the same name on the river Kadam, offers the nature lovers an outing at nearby location. A guest house located at the site offers accommodation on first-cum-first serve basis. The waterfalls can be visited and returned the same day from Hyderabad.

How to reach:
Drive up to Nirmal town (180 km) on Hyderabad – Nagpur (NH-7) highway and take a break. Kuntala is located about 22 km further on the highway, a diversion at “Neredkonda” village with enough identification boards all along the highway.
Sorry for the added confusion

Bidar was about 120(+/- 10%)kms and it took us the whole day (probably because we stopped at multiple places for multiple things) in spite of doing constant 100kmph+. So you can rest assured that you will not reach back home before 7/8 PM so plan accordingly.

Guys,

Since we are going to spend less than 5 Hrs in Warangal (most of it lounging in a bar, I would assume), shouldn't we finalize the sight seeing plans for the day?

My suggestions - kakatiya fort and 1000 pillars temple. The only down side is that both places may be sweltering hot at that time of the day.
