Nazim, i haven't actually decided the menu but have something like this in my mind. Simple without too much frills, keeping in mind we will hit the ground after snacks

Non-Veg ( Snacks)
Pattar Ka Gosht (Meat)
Chicken Kebabs

Veg ( Snacks)
Paneer Tikka ( It's north indian but any suggestions for a hyderabadi replacement?)
Veg Kebabs

Main Course
Mutton Dum Biryani ( Hyderabad speciality)
Veg Dum Biryani

Dessert
Khubani Ka Metha
Khaddu Ka Kheer/Double Ka Meeta ( Whatever you like)

Note, there is no pepper chicken or anything remotely non-hyderabadi. Nazim, we are having a ghazal meet and you want a chinese dish? LOL

What say folks? Am i on the right path?

Rajesh, Biryani means it has to be Mutton. But, if people want chicken we can make it chicken.

MC, please note only 2 snacks for veg and non-veg, 2 main course and 2 dessert. This is more or less final. Let's not make it a fiasco like our Nizam club meet where so much of good food got wasted. In any case, you will be focussed more towards something else, so you shouldn't be too bothered

Avi - you mentioned Chicken Kebabs, would that mean 2 or 3 types of kebabs.

BTW, is the list of our favourite songs handed over to the Qawali singer?

Biryani = Mutton. Nahin to biryani ki izzat ka faluda ban jayegi. Chicken = pulav. (Period)

Considering the number of ppl and the fact that it is catered exclusively - the Raan would be nice. (Whole leg of mutton marinated and grilled) It is awsome, a must have and, we do not get the opportunity often. Pathhar ka gosht is a decent alternative.

Double ka meetha / shahi tukda sounds nice, not too filling. If khubani ka meetha is a must - try to have it flavoured with fresh strawberries - it is 'zarra hatke' and tastes awesome.

Instead of paneer tikka one can have skewered vegetables (bhatti bhaji). I have had some kind of a veg. shammi kebab and it tastes nice (- daal & vegetables cooked, made into a paste, patties of the paste are fried on a tawa).

The Dalcha sounds good. Instead of the plain mirchi ka saalan one can have the baingan + mirchi ka saalan.

We must order or obtain some sheermal to go with the raan & kebabs.

Cheers,

b) kaash -hariharan
c) hoshwalo- jagjit singh

Rajesh, thanks for noticing it. I spent a good no. of hours in the last few days, often at the expense of my employer, to achieve this. I may not be moving out of "Shifting gears" section any more.

My bad. The plural was used since its going to be unlimited. So it means only one chicken Kebab.

Exactly my point. But sadly, people out of Hyderabad relish the chicken biryani more than mutton which is quite sad. Rajesh bhai, you need to develop the taste of actual biryani pretty soon or you will have to be satisfied with Chicken Pulao all your life.... More on it this evening!!!

Raan sounds good but it needs to be garnished with you know what.

As mentioned in my menu post, lets keep it simple and not cram too many dishes. So we can decide on any one item. I am not particular ( unless somebody are) as Patthar ka Ghosh and Raan both sound quite good

Btw, lets drop the fancy word " Caterer". The right word here is a khansama. We are getting a cook and provide him with supplies and he does the honours.

When i mentioned Veg Kebabs, i meant the same what you described. It can be either in round shape or the sheek ones.

Omigosh!!! from a drive meet this thread is turning out to be a food thread...LOL

I could not confirm as I dont when I will be having the meetings. This uncertainty will continue for another 3 / 4 months at least.

Though Ghazals are not my type but I want to come to the meet for the meet(/meat). But I can not confirm as of now. If I am coming I will just show up. Of course I shall up for myself as well. Like to tell you all, yesterday we had a meeting at 7:30PM and I got to know about it at 6:45PM. For today, I dont know about my schedule for the evening. For tomorrow I know I have a meeting but I dont have any clue when is it!!!!

BTW, anything decided on the "mass transportation".

Another option for the desert I would like to add, Sheet korma.

Jeezz, I guess team-bhpians all over India and abroad if they are following this thread would be salivating and would be eager to join us in the meets.

Raj.
