Let me one of the first ones to comment on Ravvs linguistic skills.. Amazing write-up and I see that each one of you guys have a fanastic time.

Unfortunately, I was sweating it out in an examination room while you guys were enjoying the ride ...

Guys, missed out on this one. Upside is that got to spend some time with my folks, who have temporarily swapped the Rajasthan heat with Hyderabad heat. This weekend onwards, count me in for the meets/ drives. Specially the aforementioned Rock Night.

PS: We are meeting for the DQM or wat?

Ravvs, that was a wonderful write-up. We had a rocking time at the meet and this time it was quite different with some quality attention to gods. Hope they help us in tiding through the trouble we are in right now.

Phase 2 of Bidar trip was very exciting and our impromptu continuation from Bidar to Solapur and Pandharpur yielded us a lot of adventure and humorous events which will be described by Pulsar56 in greater detail shortly.

So keep an eye out from that description and a few photos of our extended trip on this very thread.

O.T : I have started a thread for our much awaited Goa Drive in July'09. Please check here and confirm if your "jumping in" ASAP.

Default Plan B:

Rajesh, Mobike + Mrs. Mobike & Myself had packed our stuffs already for a drive to Solapur from Bidar. It was a pleasant drive except for a black Auto, which popped up all of a sudden during a overtaking manuveure. (Yeh Auto wale Avi ka peecha kab chodne wale hain?)

10:15 PM - We enter Solapur & Spot a lodge just near the bypass. Rajesh & Mobike went in to check out the availability while I was catching up some fresh Air and guarding the car!

10:30 PM - Avi & RR come out with their faces glowing with radiance and a wide grin and one hand held high with thumbs-up sign!
The cost is 650 INR for AC Room... Hmmm not bad.

We settle in the rooms and switched on the AC. After a minute there's smoke coming out of the plug point and then Kaput! AC is now off! RR runs to the Kaka at the Reception and he in turn runs outside to fetch someone to fix the plug. Once the initial hulla-gulla is complete, we give some money and ask the room-boy(man?) to fetch us some coke and food.

As we settle ourselves on the chairs, we were busy chatting and watching the T20 match on the TV and once the match got over around 1:00 AM we realize that apart from 4 chappatis and some onions which arrived in the room, none of the ordered items have been brought in!

RR runs out to the reception again and...

There's a Ghajini.

P.S: To be continued after a short coffee-break!

Default Continued: The adventures of the impromptu kind!

Arrey Yaar, there were no coffee beans in the machine in my floor! Had to go to the next building and that's the reason for the delay!

Continued:
We could hear RR shouting at the top of his voice in the reception. Then he marches into the room along with the kaka and points his finger towards the plate which had some dry chapattis.

Avi also now joins RR and there are lots of explosive words thrown around which can never be quoted here. LOL.

The reason: Our dear room-boy(man?).
We discover that we are dealing with a Ghajini here!
He had taken 700 bucks from us for the food and completely forgot to deliver it. Well, Actually, he had brought the food but forgot that it was to be delivered to us and so, he decided to have it himself! Our Dal, Rice etc were neatly spread near the reception along with the water bottles we ordered and our Ghajini was enjoying his dinner while we were waiting in the room with gud-gud sounds in our stomachs!

Once we cool down after all those explosive words and refraining from hitting the dear Ghajini for his act, we realize that it's too late to get food unless we head out on the highway and find a dhaba!

After all this, Kaka comes and apologizes to RR:

RR: Kaka, aise logon ko aap kaam pe rakhte kyon ho?
Kaka: soory beta. Mein usko kal subah &*(($% karta hoon!
RR: Yeh to Ghajini ka Aamir Khan hai Kaka...
Kaka: woh aamir khan toh abhi mujhe 'Pareshan Khan' bana diya na!

The search for Novotel Solapur begins...
RR was fuming inside the car and we could hear the rats creating havoc inside our stomachs! The KMs are increasing 3-4-5 but no sign of any dhaba.
At last, we find a open dhaba which is almost full with 'citizens of India' enjoying the desi food-stuff.

We have a hearty laugh at this impromptu adventure and wait for our Egg Bhurji, Dal Fry, Egg Masala & Hot Rotis. We relish the fresh-out-of-the-tandoor rotis and head back to the hotel!
Not to forget the look on the dhaba's cashier's face when RR walks upto him and asks - "Aap ke paas Cornetto Milega?"

This is when we realize that we are not carrying much cash with us and we need to find an ATM. Now the search begins again for an ATM. We are roaming around Solapur now at 2:00 in the night!

RR suddenly takes a U-turn and we are like . Then RR turns to us mischievously and says that someone was pointing to him to take a U-Turn which turns out to be a Statue of some Leader.LOL! Finally we find a Axis Bank ATM and discover that the ATM greets the customers with a pleasant voice, which was new for both me & Avi as we have never seen such an ATM in Hyderabad!

In the morning, we discover that there was an ATM right in front of the place where we were staying and since it was not having a illuminated board, we never noticed it in the night and we ended up adding the Solapur City tour in our agenda!

I will leave the Pandarpur experience write-up to RR & Avi (the true bhakts!)

Drive back to Hyderabad was a pleasant experience to RR & me as we grabbed some popcorn and coke to enjoy the 'dishum-dishum' action movie in the car!
Not to forget the 'Emotional Atyachaar' Chorus at-the-top-of-our-voices after hearing some emotional gyan.

PS: Pictures will be posted tonight!

PS2: Avi & RR, if I have missed out something, please add.

PS3: Aaahhh... flow mein aa gaya! nothing important. Its at home! LOL!

Default Thora Gyaan from my end too!

LOL.Pulsar that was the best'Pareshan Khan'

ok before i highlight the temple experience i must say that our dear 'kaka' was the most noble/simple guy i have come across. Too odd to find a 80 year old giving apologies and all.

Sunday morning we folks are up by 8am(courtesy kaka again)

While others are getting ready i go and tank up the car and we guys then dive into this restaurant right below where we stayed to have some delicious usal pav/vada pav/vada sambhar and shira as our breakfast( for someone like me who likes eating sandwiches with a glass of juice in the morning this was a welcome change)

we leave solapur by 10am and head towards mohol (26 km) take the left turn from nh 9 and hit a state highway to pandhapur (40km).

you enter pandhapur by driving on a bridge on the river bhima where on its banks is the temple .

since it being summer the river was more or less dried up which led us to drive on the river bed and park the car next to some ghat.

we walk up towards the steps of the ghats and then are approached by this guide( who sensed we are non maharashtrians) initially we guys were ignoring him till we heard him say 'sir mein boat chalata hu ,since the business is dry ,i do guide work ,will charge only inr 25 and show you around.

he helps us in leading us to place where we keep our footwear and cell phones and then enter the temple complex.

While in the temple there are 2 types of darshan ,one is where in you can go to the statue of lord vithoba and his wife rukmini and touch their feet ( this required you to stand in the queue for like 4 hrs)

the other one being the 'mukh darshan' where in you see the idol from say 10 odd metres away and say your prayers ( we chose the later but obvious)

The place is soothing but then like all religious places you have the greedy pundits giving you all sort of gyaan and churan ( one of them came upto us and asked for inr 1500 for some tulsi puja and direct access to the idols with no 4 hr waiting) which we refused.

once the darshan were done the guide escorted us all the way the the ghat ,we said our thank you's .. did a quick photo session and started back towards hyderabad.

we stopped at this place called sonai international (omerga)for lunch just before the karnataka/mah border

there were full in car entertainment happening with we folks singing ,mr & mrs mobike getting into the ( what i would term) cute little fights over silly topics . pulsar and me were like ready with popcorn and coke to see that happening.

pulsar did a sting operation of avi snoring away to glory with the whistle sound while sleeping in the back seat.

we crossed zahirabad by 6pm and stopped at haritha resort for a quick tea/coffee break post which it was back to base by 8.30pm.

p.s: my automatic dhanno gave an fe of 14km per litre on the highway and there were patches where in i could manage reaching speeds upto 135kmph.

but while doing long drives in a santro i noticed the ride is bumpy for folks sitting in the back and you do need to stop say afer every 2-3 hrs just to stretch out else your back would really pain.

courtesy the upsized tyres the grip was amazing and turns at sudden curves at high speeds was comfortable.( plus i loved the engine roar and the whosh whosh sound of the air filter at those speeds)

Enjoyed the trip a lot and did we all talk non-stop or what?

Btw, For your and pulsar's information, unfortunately i couldnt get the chance to share my watchman's room lastnight

That was hilarious. Imagine the room boy took our order and he forgot ( exactly like Aamir Khan in Ghajini) and starts devouring our dinner himself. Our guts got busted from that much laughing.

Summary of the story, Impromptu drives are fun
