@Prashant: Amazing pictures. I especially like the Enlightened Buddha and my depiction of my Rockstar Version . Is there any PP involved as you have very nicely played with the light and composition. I suggest you upload all the pics on Picasa.

@Nazim: Good pictures. Again you also have captured the Buddha so clearly. Can enlighten us what was the Aperture, ISO and Speed as the flash not blinded everything in the vicinity of the primary object.

Ani, I never use the flash for my pics. (I set in auto mode only when I am lazy to adjust the settings!)
It was at 1/25 sec exposure and little bit of PP!

Thanks man!

I figured everyone will flock the side of the boat with their cameras when the boat turns around to face the front of the statue, so I knew my best chance to take pictures from a vantage point of my choice was when the boat rounded up the statue from behind, because very few people would be interested in taking pictures at that time.

The second factor was that most of the lights on the statue shine at it from the front of the statue, so taking a picture from behind could give you the halo and/or rays of light.

Now, it's a question of using the correct metering mode and managing the exposure, so that you can actually capture those rays of light and do it in a way that reduces blur because of the moving boat.

I only had the 35 mm with me as it's fast (f/1.8) and offers a lot of flexibility when shooting in tight spaces (the boat's width isn't conducive for a lens with a focal length of 50mm or more; and the boat also moved pretty close to the statue). The added bonus was that the field-of-view is large enough that I could go as low as 1/60th of a second and still not have the movement of the boat affect the picture's sharpness to a great extent. Try taking this with, say, a 200 mm lens and at 1/60th you will definitely see some blur because the field-of-view changes quickly because of the boat's movement.

Finally, it's about editing. To get this one picture I think I shot 15 others (which no one sees ), tweaking the parameters each time until we get a decent enough picture which isn't marred by camera movement (low light + moving boat etc.).

There - you asked for a little and I think I gave you everything including the kitchen sink.

Thank you rock star ji!

The only PP involved is cropping, adjusting contrast to taste and relying on Lightroom's default sharpening (for the Web) as it resizes the original picture down to a size that follows TBHP image-posting guidelines.

Regarding uploading all pics on Picasa, please refer to my point on editing above .

spadix

Had a mini TBHP Meet at New Mars to showcase the Rubicon to passing by out of towners.

Members Present:
  1. HVKumar
  2. JeepCaptain
  3. AbsynthGuzzler
  4. Suren 181
  5. MileCruncher
  6. Prabhu (non TBHPian)
Considering the unavailability of most members and an impromptu meet in the afternoon, looks like the Dinner Meet is No Go

@kkr2k2: Sorry mate but looks like not many people are available. Please join us for the next meet .
