I am very tempted to join this trip, but I dont see any nominees from Hyderabad. Is this place not doable from Hyd over the weekend?

But if I make it then it would be my first TBhp drive meet!!

ofcourse you are welcome to join, i am sure the guys from pune/mumbai would agree.

HYD - Satara distance (NH9) as per google map 522 KMs. it means it could be 10 hour drive for you including breaks.

for people from Bangalore it would be approx 700+ KM (NH4) again 12 hours drive including breaks

I am not aware of NH9 condition, but NH4 is still good and infact improving as most bypasses and flyovers are getting completed.

whether it can be driven over a week end or not is to be taken by you. depends on your previous driving experience, condition of your vehicle, willingness to drive over 8-10 hours continiously with small breaks etc.

We'd definitely love to have you over rrahul. Incidentally we thought MileCruncher would join, but he's gone to Andamans and is not back till 23rd Sept.
Check with Extreme Torque. I've been trying to bait him for long.
All you need to do is come driving to Solapur, then branch off from there and take the Pandarpur, Mhasvad, route to Satara.
I can manage that drive in 7 - 8 hours.

Update from my side.
I shall publish a meeting point for Pune drivers on NH4 a week before the trip. I drove around 25 kms yesterday and my leg was swollen again. The ligament is acting up.
But what ever the case is, I will be there for sure! No Kalti from my side.

Thanks StarV and MX, so distance wise it seems doable. I have driven 8-10 hours continuous, but usually with family. Wifey cannot join this trip and driving solo for long distances I havent done so far.

I am not as experienced as you to do in 7 hrs MX, but yes 10 is not too bad. I am including my name in this plan. If I am not too keen on driving in the end, will see maybe I will board a train to Satara and come, it wont be too bad in the end . I hope one of the many cars can then maybe accomodate me from Satara to Kaas and back.

Arrreeee!!! I was missing this thread.

AP, MX6 bhai, mujhe bhi le chalo......

I am in with ma Family.

McD @ Panvel is good for Mumbai guys to start.

Some one please let me know the Meeting Date & Time for Mumbai. I will be starting from Kalyan.

PS: BTW, Today eve leaving for Ambaghat (covering marleshwar, vishalgad, pavankhind and manoli dam). Will be staying at Hornbill Resort.

This will give me a fair idea of travel time from McD@Panvel to Satara.

Waiting eagerly for the trip.....

Dont worry, this will be the 1st TBHP meet for me as well.... and I am sure there will be enough space to accomodate you. ( Dost dil mein jagah honi chahiye, baithne ki jagah to mil hi jayegi. He he he...)

Meet at the suggested place by 9:00 AM so that we can have breakfast and move on by 9:30 AM. What say?

Thats the point and we will decide it by majority.
Should we suggest poll?
Ashish Bhau: I would suggest we decide on the time and let everyone one. The reason being that folks like you know how much time we would need visiting the places mentioned in the itinerary.
BTW back to a basic question: What all places are on the list for that day?

I had a discussion with BolBolero yesterday and he told me that the approximately 220 kms distance between Bombay (from the McDonald's at the Expressway start) to Satara can be done in four hours; add another hour or so for reaching McDonald's from your home. That is five hours.

The equation looks like this :
5(onward)+5(return)+3(Kaas sightseeing, lunching etc.) =15 hours

So if we start at 5 am from our homes in Bombay, we will be able to make it to Satara by 10 am; if we can start from Kaas at say 5 pm, we will be be back by 11 pm.

Seems do able.

Any views AP, MX6?

Regards
Sounds like a plan issigonis.

This is what I suggest ( little tweaked):
Leave from McD at 5:30 AM sharp. Folks traveling from other suburbs would need to plan their travel accordingly to be at McD by 5:30 AM. Hope that is ok.
Reach Satara by 9:30 AM.
Break for Bfast and then leave by approx 10 AM for Kaas visit if possible.

As you said, leave back for Mumbai by 5:00 PM and be back home by midnight.

Cheers
f1fan

Ashish Bhau: Also pls let us know what would be a good time to meet in the morning. My suggestion would be meeting at the Satara Cutoff at 9:30 AM for breakfast and then moving on post breakfast at 10:00 AM for Kaas drive
This way folks would have some buffer time during our breakfast break if required.

f1fan. I'm ok for 9:30 am meet. This has to be confirmed by Bangalore people as well. I'd rather put it at a more conservative 10 am. Or do we keep it at 9:30 expecting people to come by 10?
