Its time for serious planning.

some of members will drive from bangy/hyd/mum.
They need accommodation at satara.
which is better option for stay at Satara?
Turboholic?

Lets list out concerns and solutions so that this drive meet will be successful.
Let us split the planning part in 3 sections

1. Good Hotels for stay
- easy to locate as few people are expected to arrive late evening previous day
- Preferably with good resturant attached for breakfast
- Budget ??
- need to have good parking space as this can be the meeting point on the day1 morning.
- number of rooms need (from final confirmations)

3. Planning for visit to the attractions
- Schedule assuming departure from the meeting point by 10:00 AM
- Route map
- Lunch plan ?
- Closing point ?

4. Dinner meet
- Location
- Time slot
- Budget
- Food preferences (if any)
- Confirmation of headcounts

I am now eager to be a part of this meet along with my family and would soon be including my name in the list. Working out on leave and other things and would prefer to drive down till Pune a day before and drive down to Kaas.

@StarVegabond, I shall soon update you on this, preferably by this week itself.

4. Dinner meet
Part 1:

about stay options, Turboholic is best person to sort this.

part 2:

my view.

option 1.
Since there is no food option at kaas area, i will suggest to visit first to thoseghar waterfall area.
a] 10 am start.
b] chalkewadi windmill farm end 1130am.
c] thoseghar waterfall visit end 12:30-1pm.
d] lunch at thoseghar dhhaaba 1pm to 2pm.
e] start toward kaas @2pm
f] kaas visit end 5pm-5:30pm.
g]closing point will be kaas lake.

Interested parties can squeeze lunch time at thoseghar and can pay visit to sajjangad while moving to kaas, sajjangad has small eateries providing special marathi lunch like zunka-bhakar.

closing point will be kaas lake.

option2:

Some may prefer to visit kaas first.
In that case....

a] start at 10am toward kaas.
b] kaas visit end at 1 pm. In this case , you will get only 1 hour at kaas.
c] Move toward thoseghar.
d] Have lunch at prakrati resort on the way from kaas to satara tunnel. end 2pm.
e] visit sajjangad.[ optional, i am doing it anyway]. end 3:30pm
d] visit thoseghar waterfall. end 5:30pm
e] visit chalkewadi windmill farm end 6:15pm
f] Start toward satara 6:30pm.

part 3:

I like this idea of dinner meet.
People moving to Mumbai and Pune will naturally prefer to rush to home after 6pm.
People staying at satara that night can do this dinner meet.
I will be with majority, for me there will be no problem with dinner meet.

The Bangy boys are planning on a Sun return, but I wanted to know whether Mahabaleshwar and Panchgani can be done on Sun so that we can return on Mon? I have no clue, but this was recommended by someone I know, so want to know from you guys whether it is feasible?

It is feasible.

In fact, if sky is clear, one can see mahabaleshwar mountain from kaas plateau.
For info, kaas plateau is earmarked site future new Mahabaleshwar.

You can drive from satara to mahabaleshwar via medha.
Its just 40 km drive.

I am not sure but as per some posts, there is tar road from kaas to tapola which further goes to mahabaleshwar.
In this case, you need not come back to Satara.
I am not sure about condition of this road from kaas to mahabaleshwar.

Thanks AP. Can Mahabaleshwar and Panchgani be done in a day? Is one day sufficient? What about Panchgani?

Hi Ashish,

Me and friend are both interested to join from Navi Mumbai..since we have kids along, we would prefer a stay there.

I'm still yet to hear from others here for good hotels out there. As you suggested, waiting for Turboholics say on this!

Mahaby and panchgani will need at least two-three days.

Mahaby and panchagani touch and go can be done in a day.

If I recollect right, the road was bad from the start, hence would still be in a bad condition. Anyone used that road recently?

One day would be a very tight squeeze for both places.
You can do Panchgani on Tuesday morning on the way back to BLR.

Sorry Guys, could not post all these days as I met with a small accident, I am allright but the car suffered some damage, more on that later.

Hotels in Satara: Variety available right from budget lodges to 3star accomodation. i guess I had posted the details of hotel Maharaja(I dont remember exactly). For those of you who dont mind my house is always open just drop in. Any deails wanted regarding bookings please feel free to send me a PM with the requirement and I would be more than pleased to hel do the needful.

Kaas - Tapola - Mahabaleshwar route:-This route is definately not tarred and only those who want to have some serious offroading FUN can take this route to go to Mahabaleshwar. Mahabaleshwar and Panchgani can be done in a day though not all the tourist attractions but main ones can definately be done. Please take the Satara - Medha - M'war route approx 47 kms; Those who want to go by this route please letme know when we meet in Satara will guide them accordingly.

FOOD FOOD FOOD: This is yet to be decided. Please refer my earlier post regarding the same. Come on guys if we dont decide on this quickly we may have to come back to Satara city for lunch.

Cheers!

@KRRaj,
Yes you can do Panchgani and Mahabaleshwar in a day if you like. Panchgani is on the way from Wai to Mahabaleshwar. From Mumbai we reached Wai Phata at 11am and were back to Wai Phata by 16:30; and I drive slow. Add another three hours for doing the various points in Mabby. From Satara you will reach a break off point in say 25kms on NH4. Mahabaleshwar is just 40kms from NH4. Mapro garden is a must visit in Panchgani for food and other strawberry goodies. Of course September is off-season there.

Added myself in the list.

Most probably I will reach there previous night. Leaving at 7 am with kids will be a big challange.
