Default Tata Safari Turbo Swap : Can I fit a VGT?

Dear Friends

I own a 2005 Tata Safari (TCIC).

I would like to increase the intitial pickup of the car as it has enough power after 2200 rpm when the Turbo kicks in.

I am planning to swap the stock turbo of the TCIC safari with the VTT turbo of the new 2.2 dicor as it keeps on working at lower rpm as well.

Which means If I am able to swap the existing turbo with the VTT turbo the current turbo lag in my TCIC will reduce resulting in better pick up, better fuel efficency and better emmision.

Would request all the members and technical experts to express there views on this and also let me know wherther we can install any other compatiable mew VGT<VTT etc turbo on TCIC safari.

Not only will you need a new turbo, but also a new ECM and a whole basket of allied parts. The exponential cost won't make it worth it, especially for a 6 year old UV. If you really want more power, you are better off selling your TCIC Safari and buying a used Safari 3.0 (awesome torque but limited revv-range) or 2.2 (the best engine seen in the Safari yet). The Safari's quick rate of depreciation can work in your favour here.

My suggestions that might help in improving the low end performance:

1) Improve air intake system by putting a filter like K&N or similar.

2) Tweak the fuel injection pump a little advance.

3) Remove the catalytic converter, although it ill result in polluting the environment.

Look at the website below, I think they might have a TURBO you are looking at:

Cars depreciate the most in the first 3 years of ownership. Once they are over 5 years old, the year-on-year difference is far lower. For instance, you'll see many 2003 & 2004 cars (of the same make & model) going for similar prices today.
