Of course, in the workshop nothing out of ordinary was detected and so it was left at that.

Now again couple of days back i got the same thing and on impulse checked the tyre pressure and temp. To my surprise - i see that the temperature on all 4 tyres is in the 54-55 range.

Was a little disturbed - but there was no issue in braking and so i continued driving - the flashing, etc stopped after a while and on checking the temp again - all of them were now in 53-54 range.

Pls note that this was not any highway driving, or driving on high speed with lot of braking when this happened. It was a normal drive from office to home and that too not the bumper to bumper kind. but yes, the atmospheric temp was high that day - but i dont think it was more than 35 degrees.

So the questions:
1. Has anyone observed this issue in their Scorpios? Mine is 2010 mHawk model.
2. Does anyone know if this is caused by the temperature? IF so - what is the threshold beyond which alarm will be triggered?
3. Does this happen even if one of the tyres cross the threshold limit ? because in my case one of the tyres was at 55 and the rest at 54 when this happened and after it stopped, again couple were at 54 and couple on 53.

Pls let me know.
I have experienced this in the scorpio. Nothing to worry as the famed self heal technology on the scorpiowill fix it.
The warning sign comes on when the there is a difference of some psi(sorry I don't know the exact psi for this to happen)between the tyres including the stepney.
I don't think temperature difference will play a part in this. Its mostly got to do with the tyre pressure.

Mechanic took vehicle to Chrome motors workshop. Hope warranty comes to my help! Will keep you all updated tomorrow.
All is well now after the chrome motors work. Third service was also done as it was 14K +. Everything came under warranty and no money spent!

Good job done by service advisor Abhilash with prompt follow ups and updates and also managed to make the vehicle delivered home.

Other note, Mahindra should note this clutch slave cylinder issue, which has been mentioned by lot of owners.

Hello fellow Scorpion's ;-) I dont own a scorpio yet but I am planning a good pre-owned vehicle from a friend. I took a test drive today and I noticed two things
1) Side mirror vibration on idle (Driver side)
2) when speed pedal is pushed in standing vehicle i felt a slight motion in the cabin. see-saw kind of to the right and left.
3) As the vehicle is micro hybrid what does this mean. I mean how I can check the micro hybrid part is working fine or not ?
4) Does Vlx model has fuel efficiency meter? in the display.

I am buying a 60k run well maintained vehicle. Your advice and answers will be helpful in geeting scorpio owner's gang!

A new sound started on my Scorpio CRDe two weeks back. Its a combination of grinding sound and kat-kat kind which seems to be coming from the alternator area. The sound is intermittent, but when it is there, it is there irrespective of whether AC is on or not(but increases with the AC on).

Since the sound is there even without the AC, I suspected alternator or idler bearing. My trusted electrician checked and said alternator is fine.

Today the sound was there when I returned home and I had a chance to check sound at different locations with a long screw driver and the sound seems to be more prominent on the compressor, though not as prominent this sound can also be felt on the ac pipe joint at the condenser(the joint towards the left of the radiator/condenser when we are facing the vehicle). So I'm now thinking it is from the AC compressor. Probably the sound is always there because the pulley is rotating even when the clutch is not engaged.

If it is indeed the compressor, what are my options? I think the compressor is usually replaced and is expensive. Is the Scorpio compressors clutch bearing replaceable?

Await your inputs.

Edit: AC is as chilling as ever, no drop in efficiency. Standing near the hood, the kat kat sound seems like some part is hanging loose and knocking against something else, but there is no loose part I could find(with screwdriver test it is prominent on the compressor though). When the sound is there, it is like kat kat kat kat, a second of gap, then kat kat kat kat, Repeats like this like vibrations of an idling lorry.

I too noticed similar noise in our Xylo E8 ABS that has run 181KKms.
We (I and 2-3 different mechanics) were unable to trace the noise so left it on its own.

If possible, I will record it and upload here to get idea of the same.

1. It is a regular feature/flaw in all Scorpios.
2. This is a normal occurence. The vehicle will sway slightly from side to side upon pressing the accelerator pedal with a jerk. The Scorpio is like a camel at times..!!
3. It means that it will shut down the engine when the vehicle is in neutral for more than 13 seconds. It will automatically start again when you depress the clutch. There is a button on the centre console to turn this feature on and off. It can be checked very easily anywhere.
4. No, though the new Bolero does...!!

AC compressors can be repaired at the open market and the required spare parts too are available. The ASC of course will not repair them and will sell them as a complete assembly costing around 15k INR.

Get the gearbox mounts checked. Tightening them/replacing them should help. How is your gear oil and when was it replaced?

I guess the Gearoil was changed at 50K service , i am not sure about the interval however has been done as per prescribed schedule in manual . My scorp is due for 60k service in 700kms .

Then get the mounts checked and replaced if required. That should take care of it.

Odometer Issues:

My 2009 mHawk SLE' Odometer needle suddenly stopped working a week after 80K service. All other needles (Temp, RPM, Fuel) etc are working normally. No warning lights as well. Its out of Shield warranty as well. Been driving normally otherwise.

Wanted to ask the experts for a solution?

Thanks

Is it a vibration or a gear lever shudder which is pretty violent at times ?

Is it odometer or techometer. I guess the ODO will be digital. If it is the tachometer then it might have conked off, which happened with my VLX as the gear moving the needle had broken.

The only option is replacement of the entire instrument cluster. I was lucky enough to be under extended warranty when it was done. The only thing you would need to be careful that the ODO reading will be reset to zero so the last reading in the old cluster neeeds to be carefully noted and updated in the A.S.S database.

Its the Odometer having a small digital meter showing Kms and Time. Speed is shown by the needle not working now. Tachometer is working fine.

My extended Shield warranty expired in April this year. Can Mahindra still replace it?

Start off with the gear box mounts , changing then should cease the vibration. As for me I used to experience a violent shudder of the gear lever when the clutch is pressed and then it would follow the infamous self-heal procedure.
The problem would never appear for the next few 100 kms or so. Had a tough time explaining this to the ASC folks who eventually fixed it after a few visits.
