Its been 3-4 months since I've done a round of machine polishing on the car. Time has come!

Nirmal gave me some Meguiars #83 Dual Action Cleaner Polish. Tried it with Meguiars Yellow Polishing pad and SKIL rotary. Below were the results:

Enter M21

I'm now honestly done with the exterior. Just the roof, rear bumper left; hoping to finish it in the next couple of weeks.

Another coat of M21 in the evening + M26 in the morning; done for the week.

Hi guys

Do we have any good polish available in India which can restore the shine on aluminium bits, especially on motorcycles?

Thanks in advance.

Detailing Experts, how do you clean the Microfiber towel when it gets dirty?

a) with mild detergent (surf diluted in water? ezee?)

b) specialized cleaner for MF

I give them to my mom. She does some magic and I get fresh warm ones.

On a serious note - for regular dirt, just keep it soaked for sometime in regular detergent, machine wash it with towels / linens, and line dry.

For sticky residual dirt , I once soaked one with dynacone pad cleaner, and then followed the above steps.

Yes, just wash microfibre, by hand or machine, like any other towel or cloth. Nothing special at all, except for one thing: Do not use fabric conditioners.

Just soak it in surf water and toss it around a bit. Then dry.

Please dont use ezee or any other fabric softeners. It seems fabric softeners neutralise the static on the microfiber, that is the main reason for their ability to hold dirt.

meanwhile Ive started buffing today on my hood. Some pictures of the test spot

Here is how i clean my MF towels.

1. First rinse them under running water for removing dirt stuck on the surface.
2. I have bucket with soft water(metro water as we call it here) which is warm and i use liquid detergent and soak the towels for some time.
3. After a few hours, i remove the towels and rinse them again and dry them. They are clean by the time i am done. Also, do not wring excessively as i found out it causes the fibers to become slightly stiff.

Fabric conditioner/softener coats fibres, and covers up the micro indentations in microfibe that absorb the dirt.

(EDIT: you can see a nice diagram of how that works here.)

Thankfully, fabric conditioner/softener is a money waster that has not much caught on here yet --- but I'm seeing it in supermarkets, so somebody must be buying it.
