Default Multifunction Display Dead on Fiat Linea

Hi

Yesterday, my dashboard err - froze on the Fiat Linea. The time is stuck at 3.11 and none of the gauges work. The Blue and Me works but I don't see any display whatsoever. When car is switched on neither the Airbag nor the ABS signs come on either. Same goes for all lights. For all practical purposes, the Dashboard is dead. Anyone else have the same issue? If so, could you resolve it on your own or did you have to take it in to the Fiat chaps?

Thanks

If your car still under warranty? Do not attempt DIY if it is.

Yep, my car is under warranty. I have registered a complaint now with Fiat India on their 1-800 number. Let's see how it goes.

I think a fuse has blown. However let the A.S.S. personnel handle this.

Even i would suggest let the *** handle this but one small thing that you can try is disconnecting the negative terminal of the car battery for 5 to 10 minutes and see if this helps.

So I assume it is not a very big deal?

You can try disconnecting your Linea's battery's negative terminal and re-connecting after 10 minutes. If it works, then MID functions are to be reset.

Yes,it might be a case of blown fuse.its very easy to check and change blown fuses.I think the fuse box comes with spare fuses.check the owner's manual.

I would not worry too much. TATA-FIAT are known to replace parts under warranty. I just hope its just the fuse thing as others have mentioned.

I had the same problem on my Indica and the warranty was to expire in 3 days. I logged in the complaint with B.U.Bhandari, Pune TASS and they honoured it. Entire instrument cluster replaced

V. Imp: If the entire cluster needs to replaced, make sure they do not give you another cars cluster with some reading on the ODO already. It happened with me and I had to live with it. The changed cluster came with reading as 420 km and since then I subtract 420 and add 7525 km (cluster went dead at this figure) from the current reading to actually derive my clocked figure .

I agree with 1self, its just a fuse from what I can guess but in that case, the clock, odo, trip should not display at all rather than freeze as you have mentioned.

Since some parts are still working, fuse might not be the root cause. I believe a reset by removing battery might do the trick or something related to MID might have gone Kaput.

Better to let A.S.S. take a stab at it first.

A.S.S will take a stab at it tomorrow. Called up Tata owned Worli center which gave me an appointment for August 8 and suggested I call up Bombay Cycle Co at Churchgate. BCC gave me an appointment for tomorrow. But I guess thanks to my call to Fiat First 1-800 number, Worli called me back and asked me to come at 9 tomorrow. While I am sure BCC is good, I'd much rather stick to the company owned center.

Well it was fixed - for a little while atleast. Now the battery is dead. Also an orange light on the dashboard was on 15 minutes into taking the car from the service station. It showed an inclined seat ?!?!

Well, a dying battery does show similar symptoms. I think in the Swift D, it even turns on the Engine Check light.
