Question Re: Crack in front windshield

Hi Folks,

My cousin is looking for replacement of front windshield for his Ford Fiesta classic 2011 model which has developed a crack after a tiny stone hit while driving on a NH. Does anybody have information about:

1. How much does it costs to replace the windshield?
2. Should the job be done at Windshield Experts or Ford Dealer?
3. How much can be claimed from insurance company (in %) being comprehensive policy?

Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences / thoughts.

Regards,
Sary

WE do a very good job and a much lesser cost than A.S.S. So, WE is a better bet.

You get 100% Insurance on glass; you just pay ~700-1k for the adhesive.

Thanks libranof1987,
How much do you think Ford will charge?

Does the glass supplied by WE has Ford branding?

Is it for bumper to bumper insurance or normal comprehensive insurance?

It sure is covered in comprehensive Insurance; not sure about how it works in the bumper-bumper Insurance.

Check it with WE.

WE quoted around ~7500 and Ford dealer ~10500. The glass from WE is 'Saint Gobain' make (no Ford branding) and from dealer is 'Asahi' make with Ford branding. Shall go with the dealer as ~7000 will be paid by insurance company and rest from his pocket.

I got the glass on my Civic replaced by WE. Took all of an hour and a half. A very professional job.
@sary; Looks like they are using both Asahi and St Gobain as OE, or maybe St Gobain is actually manufactured by Asahi. WE is an Asahi operation.

How much does a Baleno front windshield cost? Also the 6K Llumar sunfilm is wasted.
ASAHI which is OEM will cost about 6.2K from windshield experts a little more say about 7K from MASS. An alternative is FY which will cost about 3.3K. I got this installed from Rajarajeshwari Glass in Bangalore after a coconut fell on my car. It is certified DOT and EU and I have not faced problems with distortion and glare.

Saint Gobain is manufacturing glass since 1665, globally. And it has no connection with Asahi. On a personal note, I prefer Saint Gobain over AIS. AIS started operations somewhere in late 2004.
