6700RPM was in NHC but the Santro was on full revvs. It was in second gear. Santro has no tacho but since it has a smaller engine 1.0L it can take those revvs. I was trying to shift at full throttle

I think we can ignore the 6700 rom, can't we? He shouldn't be doing anything with a Santro on the road in the first place at the age of 17.
Not again. It was on a deserted road where i was alone and nobody i was learning to shift at full throttle so dont you need to worry. Take care of yourself.

P.S Going to get a licensee soon so please dont bother much.

Only redlining or bouncing off the limiter causes this problem rite. So is it okey if u rev 'till' the redline?

The same thing happened to me with the Qualis. Couldn't believe I did that. I was changing from 2nd to 3rd, but instead shifted back into 1st. The wheels locked and the car skidded and jerked badly.

What happens exactly?!

hmmm, i just lovvvvve the sound of the 1.3 (ohc) going beyond 5k. Have taken it to redline once or twice - not sustained. No downshifting there for sure. From the sound of it, it couldn't have been bad

But then don't most of us rev our cars till the redline,
infact when i was in college,& even somtimes now ,i only changed gears just before the fuel cut happened.Mostly in the 1st 2nd & 3rd.I always thought the damage could only occur if i got a jerk coz of the fuel cut.

Ive driven 99000kms ,& the engine still rocks,so does the FE.Ive never had any problems.(would be posting the 1lackms long term review soon)

P.S-i drive the OHC 1.3Exi,sept'00(sapphire silver).

I just wonder why anyone should rev past redline! Everyone knows it would damage the engine.
PS: Isn't it good time now that tachometer be fitted in all cars in India?

how many times do you have your eyes on the tacho when you're pushing your car to rpm s like that. infact i'm certain that most drivers know how much more juice each gear has left, once they ve got used to a car.

but then its always slightly helpful, sometimes i refer to the tacho to make sure i'm upshiftin at 1.2-1.5 k .. . .
