Default Got a new BMW 320D PE - Front tyre is wider than the rear!!

Note from Mod : Please use CAPS where necessary. Your post is an eyesore to read. Thanks

dear all , i recently purchesed 320 d bmw exclusive edition but with their performance kit .
apart from their carbon fibre treatment it came shod with 17" rims ,but with the M logo. the tyre size at the back and front is different , the rear ones are 225/45 r17 and the front ones are 255/40r17 . now even its ok for many performance cars to have different tyre sizes but shouldn't it be the reverse scenario ? i mean the bigger ones at the back and front ones smaller considaring its a rear wheel drive? is it ok or the dealer made a mistake as the kit was imported and fitted at his end ? please advice

Your dealer has made a mistake. The 255 should be at the rear. Please have it changed.

Also since you have taken the M Kit why not bump up the performance with the Performance package remap?

I cannot believe that a BMW Dealer would screw up like this

You should threaten to sue him for potential damages that could occur - maybe he'll give you a complimentary Performance Package Remap!

You dealer (staff) has messed it up. I am not sure if the car is in Aurangabad just as your location reads so.

It would be great to make the dealer send in its staff all the way to your place just to swap the wheels.

Or - A good price on BMW Performance powerkit/exhaust.

thanks a lot team members , i was confused but because of your posts i strongly put up this point to the dealer and now this morning they called me to say they have made a mistake by doing so and regret for it.
i will change them here at aurangabad itself as going to mumbai for that wont make a good deal . regarding the remapping they say it cant be officially done and advice me to do it after the warranty expires .

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...ml#post2501926 (BMW 320d Performance Edition)

See this thread, there is a brochure for the official BMW remap and silencer. I assume you are talking about Navnit, since Infinity knows about these remaps.

And how about a review please? We don't have any for the Exclusive. What colour/interior does your car have?

+1 to that. 255s on a 320D will actually slow the car down, thanks to unnecessary bulk & width. Heck, the 6 cylinder 525d I tested had 245's and they were more than up to the task while cornering. I would suggest sticking with a 225 patch front & back.

BTW, it's absolutely SHOCKING to see the goof up from a BMW dealer. Who in his right mind would fit the 255s at the front?!

BMW offers those sizes stock with the M styling Package, which BTW is now standard on the 330i. At least the 320d has 380nm of torque for these tyres, the 330i has 300nm so the initial acceleration will be worse off in that.

I have 245's on my 525d and they are just right. Anything more would be any overkill.

I bet your 320d PE would be slower than a 320d CE in a straight line. If you have a chance switch them for 225's like the rest have suggested. You'll get better comfort too with a higher profile. Orelse when these wear our don't go for 255's again. Are your tyres run flats?

now , after instaling it properly, i do not think the tyres 255 are overkill . no way . because i had a drag race with my friend in an laura TSI and though both of them do register similar figs in 0-100 , the BMW won hands down .
and i might contribute to the fact that as the rear tyres were of larger size it helped better to transfer the torque to the road as you can lift the throttle at higher RPM's with left foot breaking . i bet it will outrun the standerd 320 D also.

Thank you so much. Looks great sir. But they have not given you the M steering wheel?

I too am waiting for my 320d to arrive, its space grey with the same saddle brown interiors you have. Also aren't there front parking sensors on the 320d exclusive? The salesman told me that there are.

I'm planning on changing the angel eyes to white, and probably the BMW performance remap and silencer next year.
