odel :Fabia 1.2 Htp 2009 Dec 10000km, Location : Kannur

Since past few weeks, the problem of random starting troubles began. Esp during early morning starts. There would be a clicking sound from the engine bay. The engine would not crank. After 2-3 attempts, it will start.Last week the engine simply refused to crank. I called the local mechanic. ( A.s.s @ Calicut 90 Km). He thought it was battery related and brought a stand by cell to jump start the engine, but realised it was something with the starting motor. Next day the car started on the first attempt. Took it to the local mec, who diagonised the problem as the solenoid switch gone faulty. Called for replacement, work is now in progress. Just thought I will share the experience with you. Will post the progress of the works in due course.

I think, its too early for solenoid change, not even 2 years, and less than 10000 kms run fabia, It will be costly affair, for skoda solenoid, i have changed solenoid for my 99 model lancer , an taiwan product for Rs.1100 i think, that too in 2010. But skoda's may be bit costlier, Why cant you take up this issue with skoda, as it is less than 2 years and low mileage car. It is quality problem of skoda.

In another thread i have seen Fabia's radiator fan gone. Quality is big question mark here

What make is teh starter motor? (most probably, Lucas or Bosch). FInd out the part number (of this company) and try to source it from these people.

I too face this clicking sound while cranking our Indigo XL Dicor. But it does not give any starting trouble even after 1 year and around 10000+kms on the odo after this sound cropped.

What may be wrong?
