| BHPian | Guys, I am worried. Today, I went in for a rim and tyre change on my 2+ months old Ford Endy. While the folks were at their job removing the stock tyres and wheels, I noticed that the hubs particularly the front ones were "rusted" ![]() I have taken pictures. Do have a look and let me know if I'm right and I should be taking this up with the A. S. S. I can remember about 5-7 or at the max 10 rainy days in the past 2 months where I had parked in the open parking lot in my office. I had washed my car once every week only (and not on any other day). What other reasons could be behind this? Was I given inferior parts? Front Hubs: ![]() ![]() ![]() Rear Hubs: ![]() ![]() |

| That looks absolutely horrible. This is unacceptable from FORD, and you should definitely take this up with them at the earliest. Inferior material seems a distant possibility. This is most probably a case of disregard and careless workmanship. Only poor maintenance of the vehicles can lead to such ugly results. Let us know what the outcome is. |

| Team-BHP Support ![]() | They are made of mild steel so obviously they will rust. I think its more prominent with Ford as they don't even use some coating just plain mild steel. |

| This looks normal to me, the hubs and the master brake discs are made out of pure iron. Last edited by Captain Slow : 15th October 2011 at 23:34. |

| Okay, I do admit my knowledge in this regard is limited. But frankly speaking, I am surprised. It's a bit appalling to see this. At least from an Endy, which no doubt is in the premium segment, I would expect something better. |

| Distinguished - BHPian ![]() | Relax mate!. I have seen vehicles at the yard, with the same amount of rust. So, I guess this is not an issue to get worried. |

| Senior - BHPian | It surely looks normal, 2 months is a decent time, it can look like this in few weeks, and i dont think you need to be worried they last long and i believe the rust only a protective rust. So for example it wouldnt start peeling off pieces of that part after sometime (Like we see in other rust which is harmful). PS: Forgot to add, remember you are in Chennai, so its only natural for this to appear so soon. BTW do you live near the beach? Last edited by mayankjha1806 : 16th October 2011 at 05:31. |

| @ssh1979, My two months old Figo has rust on all all brakes too (whether disk or drum). Other members of T-BHP told me not to worry. Still I worried for a couple of weeks until I realized that the rust doesn't fall out and hence effectively protect cast iron inside. From then I stopped worrying ![]() I am not sure but I think that pressure-spraying water on the rust part would not be a good idea since it might wash away rust and expose the cast iron inside to corrosion. |

| Mate, do not even think twice over it. This is just normal. The brake discs/hubs are exposed Iron. No coating just to dissipate heat and to ensure good grip. This rust in no way adversely affect the car. Put the wheel back and enjoy your Endy. |

| Relax mate, nothing much to worry, I have seen cars before PDI in this state . May be an example I would like to share, you would have seen construction work and iron rods lying all over and if it rains, it gets rusted completely even before used but that doesn't reduce its strength.Enjoy your drive, stress free ![]() |
