Talking Review : Autosnap IN805 OBD reader for Indian cars

Like many of us on the forum, i own a maruti swift, everything about the car pleases me except the non standard OBD protocol.
In my search for an OBD tool tfrom which i'd be able to diagnose troublecodes, get live data etc, i came across the autosnap IN805, meant specifically for Indian cars.
I ordered the product from aliexpress and i received it within a week.

This product is brilliant and works on all Indian cars aswell as all other OBDII protocols. It also gives the users live data reading from various sensors present in the vehicle. it also graphs data. one can connect it to the computer, print files aswell as update the device.
I have tested it on maruti cars aswell as tata cars and also my volkswagen. Works flawlessly.

Here is a link to the product:

I too would like to know the cost of this. Also, have you tried other aspects of the code-reader, like live-data freeze, live-data output etc.?

Yes, I have tried the live data, not sure about the freeze data. Will check it out.
Live data is very useful in pin pointing problems.

Hi Himura, many thanks for the information regarding this Scan-Tool, have been fooling around with ALDL kits & what not & getting nowhere ! I emailed the manufacturer (Auto-Snap) directly & their Indian dealer has quoted a price of Rs.20,000 ! Tried binging AliExpress, but most of the search results have scary stories about AliExpress being a scam. Since you've received the Scan-Tool in fine condition, could you kindly post the URL from where you've sourced it ?

Edit:
Is it this product [ http://www.aliexpress.com/product-fm...olesalers.html ] ?
The price mentioned on the web-site is $ 259 US (~14K INR).

Hey! aliexpress is surely not a scam. The seller i bought it from has taken this particular product off the site.
i'm linking you to the sellers page. If you register, you can chat with the representative of this seller. They are very helpful.. I paid around 155$ including shipping.

Chat with any of the representatives. Ask for Autosnap IN805/IN815 insist on the this product only. They seem honest and very helpful

I bought it from this link, but this is a snapshot:

do mail me if you have any query

A quick observation after seeing the pictures is, I am not seeing the Ritz in the list of cars of Maruti. Is it there? Or no? If no, then how one having Ritz can use this is my question.

Does this work with the older (non DiCOR/CR4) models ?
and what parameters does it measure (for those models ie) ?

It seems to be a genuinely VFM product and I too am interested to buy it. Can you however, do me a favor please?

In the Mahindra section of the tool, can you check if you see the Scorpio CRDe version available in the tool and let me know the results?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,
If this really works, and can be sourced reliably, it would be great. Can I therefore suggest all those who get it list here their review, and their sourcing details.

How did the Chinese get their hands on Suzuki's proprietary for India protocols? And we couldn't.

Regards
Sutripta

Sutripta,

That's because they make official code scanners for most vehicle manufacturers here in India. So, it's just a question of transferring the software to their own brand of scanners.

Too many quotes flying around ! Auto-Snap's Indian dealer is insisting that the price cannot be lower than Rs.20 K (~$360 US). The Ali-Express store from where Himura has bought the scan-tool has sent this link where the price quoted is $242 US. Planning to take the plunge & get it from Ali-Express itself. Both prices include shipping to India. Not sure what the difference is between the IN-805 & the IN-815 though...

My question was whether they (the Chinese) got the protocol (initially at least) officially, or did they reverse engineer it.
And why could no Indian company/ person get it, either officially or reverse engineered.
There would be a sizable market for a 'protocol converter' here which would allow the use of a standard analyser.
