Robert Bosch launched fun2drive, a unique mobile application (app) for the consumer automotive market on February 26, 2013.





The app offers car and driving enthusiasts a comprehensive one-stop smart solution for their auto needs. An intelligent combination of car performance data, the app populates engine horsepower, torque, fuel consumption along with diagnostic data as engine real time values from the electronic control unit. It also connects the user to car service centers.


fun2drive has a wide array of advanced features such as vehicle performance tracking, engine real-time values, trip analyzer, engine diagnostics, find the nearest Bosch workshop, call my workshop, Bosch spare parts, error-code-lookup table. The app also caters to the social media savvy by enabling users to share their car performance data on Facebook. The app has a database of 250,000 models of cars which allows the user to personalize the app to the car he/she drives.

fun2drive is to be used along with an on-board diagnostics (OBD) technology based Bluetooth adapter which can be easily procured online. The app is currently available on the Android platform and supports Android operating system from v2.3 onwards. The app supports most cars in the US post 1996, in Europe post 2001, and in Asia post 2009; few earlier-production year cars also work.

Unfortunately none of my mobile/Tab supports this application (Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini and Karbon Smart Tab 2)

Unfortunately i am still old school running a symbian phone :(
I am trying to find out the OBD which should support this and will come up with something soon. I will be one amongst many/any who get this home once i find the appt OBD, will get a reason to replace my phone too.

Haha. So you are one of the rare species including me that still use a Symbian.
Another reason to replace the phone.

Neways, if I procure a bluetooth OBD port, I would be trying this app on cousin's phone atleast. Any idea if this a paid or a free app?

The app can be downloaded for Free. AFAIK, Bosch is working on releasing versions compatible with other platforms too. Lets see how this works.

I have no idea currently how effective this app is so looking forward to bhpians for reviews. This is the best place man to get updates

Were you successful in doing that? I see above that it needs some "OBD" to be fitted to the ECU?

OBD is "On board Diagnostics" . Eveyr car in todays age has one.

All you need is a Blutooth Adpapter which can collaborate with your car OBD and do what not. Watch Amazon, ebay for some online products.

Regarding the OBD Adaptor, will any OBD Bluetooth adaptor work or will there be any specifications even for the adaptor depending on the vehicle model. I guess this is a bit tricky as i read that at times these adaptors dont work with some vehicle models.

Can someone throw some light on this.

Found this OBD adapter in e bay. Also they also have their own smartphone software called Torque. It can also be connected with windows and mac's with inbuilt bluetooth.

The same OBD bluetooth adapter can be got for as less as $15 from aliexpress with free shipping to India. There are also quiet a number of other android and windows softwares available that is compatible with this adapter. Google for it.

Hi @sumathindra, you can also check this one out, read somewhere here on tbhp that it works fine on most cars.
