There was rough noise from the engine all of a sudden, given to asc. They have dismantled the same and given report as engine failuer.Need a rebuilt.

Looks like it was running low on engine oil or the engine oil leaked. BTW, why 1.35 lacs for a rebuild?

@Rajith : Shocked at this failure... this is why I fear diesel engines. I just dont believe diesel in India as it is delivered today is as clean a fuel as in Europe/US, unlike petrol.

Fuel adulteration is rampant for sure, but I believe other reasons behind the failure too. Rough noises from the engine, in this case, IMO point to lack of lubrication/ engine oil.

I have taken only 1 year extended warranty and same has expired by last march.

Is it because of trying to get too much from a small engine !!.
This is definitely premature failure of a critical component. I had come across a 33k run safari with failed crankshaft leading to engine failure just after warranty. They had sued tata and the dealer and we're confidant of winning the case.

Does maruthi sell refurbished ddis engines or half engine kits for ddis?
