Default Palio injector warning lamp

hey guys
my palio 1.2 developed a strange problem today.
i tried to start the car but the engine refused to fire up. the starter motor did crank up but the car didnt start up. i looked in the instrument panel and the injector warning lamp which is supposed to go off after a couple of secs after switching the battery on did go off but came back immediately.
now i am hell worried what happened to the car?
can any bhp-ian help me out here.

I am not sure of the cause since I have not faced this problem so far on my Palio 1.2.
If you are a member of Palio Users Group [http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/paliousersindia], you can post your query there or just search the Archives of this Group, am sure you will find some resolution there.

The fuel cutoff circuit may have tripped - check the switch which is located somewhere under the passenger side dashboard. I suggest you look up the owner's manual and carry out this simple check.

Second that. I think you should try that first.

This is a black thingy in the passenger side front foot well.. you may have to remove the floor mats and crawl under the dash to see it..

However, this switch is supposed to trip only in an accident and then needs to be replaced..

Also do this - remove the main battery leads for a few minutes and reconnect. Then try the ignition and see if the injector light stays on.. If that happens, it might be a fuel pump failure.. Try to listen for the pump sound when you switch on ignition..How many KM has your car done?

Amit i faced the same problem for my GTX ( bought a used one last month) . however for me, it used to come while i m driving with AC on or high revving, never had starting problem though (starting problem must be due to low battery). I droved it down to anuroop (hyderabad) they said ignition coil for one valve is dead, replaced it for Rs.1890 + labour. here is what u can do
1. check the battery if its fine, get it started by pushing the car. i know its tough but u can engage some labour.
2. If its starts drive it down to dealer. drive slowly with caution lights on, The performance will be very poor and u will find the pick up is very slow. dont rev the car, dont use AC, dont drive about 50 kmph
3.If it doesnt start then last option left is tow it to dealer.

i finally called in the guys to tow the vehicle to the dealer (A-One Motors Rama Road).
the guys came and after fiddling through some sensors and stuff (TD Sensor etc), ECM and all came to a conclusion that the car needs to be towed to the Workshop.
I dont know what happened to the other guy who decided to check the Relay Box. turns out the damn relay was the culprit. replaced the defogger relay to the ignition one to get the thing started. i am just happy the car didnt need to be towed.

also one more thing. the cabin light in my palio doesnt work smooth.
many would know that it has an 8-sec dimmer feature. now if the engine is running the light goes out 8-sec after closing the door. but when the engine is off and the key is out and am finally locking the car up to goto my house the light refuses to go out.
this problem has been there ever since i bought the car. but the damn "PARTS ARE COMING FROM MUMBAI" excuse of the dealer made it hard for me to get it replaced under warranty.
Any suggestions as to what is the culprit. I am sensing another relay culprit.

Sorry I didnot see this thread any earlier... May be I could have been of some help.

I suspected this when I read the first post...I remember, when I took the delivery, the mech there mentioned about this likely failure. He showed me the relay, and asked me to replace the horn relay in case if I encounter a failure. He felt the Horn is trivial.

However, the relay for fuel pump is supposed to be in the hood near the ECU for 1.6. not in the relay box!
