Ok, here's the problem...

My car (Vtec) goes from 0 - 100 kmph in 9.92 secs....
What i want to find out is, how many meters does it cover in that given time?

I don't care even if the formula makes no sense, i just want the result and the formula.

Regards...

well i got one

s= u*t + {(a*t^2)/2}

where:

s= distance covered
u= initial velocity, in this case =0
t=total time taken in this case=9.92 secs
a= acceleration, where a= (v-u)/t...where v=final velocity in this case = 100 kmph

this should work one..usually does for everything else that i have used it for. you also might want to convert your speeds in kmph to m/sec.

let me know if it works.

in fact u have to convert all the quantities in MKS system like speed in m/s , time should b in secs (which it is..cmon Vtec ain't that slow after all ) u ie initial velocity being zero.
But phead why have u divided it by 2. The original formula is w/o 2

9.92secs? Thats faster than autocarindia, overdrive and bsmotoring timing. Always account for speedo error.

Good knowing the sub-10 anyways

Hey RJK,

P-head is right. Maybe you are used to refering to the formula as * *s= ut + 1/2 at^2 * *rather than * (at^2)/2

I tried this yesterday but i got 17mtrs instead of 170mtrs. Give it a shot>

Heres the formulas needed to figure out all the variables

Initial Velocity (u)
Final Velocity (v)
Acceleration (a)
Distance Traveled (s)
Time elapsed (t)

v = u + at

v2 = u2 + 2as

s = ut + 1/2 at2

average velocity = (v + u)/2

g'luck.

ps - to save u some time- 100km/h = 27.78m/sec

Well GTO and RGowani,
* The Vtec does the 0 - 100 (true speed) in 9.92 secs according to Overdrive.

You can check it out here http://www.cybersteering.com/cbmain/...ity/honda1.htm

Well thanx for the formula guys, will try it out and see if it works.

Now thats really really nice to know. So we can now claim that we have sub-10 second cars!!

Yeah GTO,

And guess what, the Vtec did all this with bad fuel which led to knocking and pinging or it might have gone even quicker.

Vtec + 93 Oct fuel = Nirvana!!!
