Answer lies in the materials used. Brake pads of newer models have a different design and to be compatible with effectiveness, superior materials are used but they face frequent wear and tear.

The reason why Accent brake pads cost so much is because Hyundai has jacked up spare price cost of all discontinued models to dissuade owners from maintaining them and sell them and buy new vehicles. The case is same for other parts also. For example, accent rear bumper costs 40% more than Verna rear bumper!

After market pads from Bosch cost 1500 bucks for the front set for your accent with same or better braking performance .

If the brake pad change is indeed for Rs. 60,000, that's ridiculous and it has nothing to do with quality. USA & Europe will have the same part quality as us. You could get the same brake pads from there for 20% of the cost. Admittedly though, the dealers there as much of a stealership as we see in India. I'm talking of the after-market, but OEM (or better) quality.
