In all my petrol engine cars, I have always strictly used ONLY Mobil 1. The engine protection is stupendously superior, and the power delivery + fuel efficiency + engine smoothness is leagues ahead of normally lubed friends cars.

The real difference really comes up after 10000+ kms of using Mobil 1, and there really is nothing that even comes close to this oil. it actually works out almost as cheap as regular lubes for me. The Mobil 1 engineers from Delhi who I spoke to, as well as my cousin who is the regional distributor of this product, claim oil change intervals of upto 50000 kms!!! Butttttttttttttttttt its the Indian oil filters that dont last beyond the 10000 mark. I change oils at a little more than manufacturer recommended intervals, but the filter is always changed before the 10000 km mark.

In my Jeep, I have been using Delvac 1, and the results have been witnessed by most at the team-BHP meets. 90000 kms and the engine compression is almost as good as new. Ditto for the esteem (125000 kms+) and ditto for the Zen (120000 kms)

Go for Mobil 1, it may be the smartest decision you make for your car.

RJ,

I believe that the MRP is Rs.700/liter, but if you want it for Rs.500 straight from the distributor just drop a PM to me.

Puts me in a dilemma - I want to maintain my Vtec service record - will they refuse to service if I give them the oil each time - "not a specified oil etc." It has an oil change every six month. Alos I beleive Vtec are fussy about oil

GTO,

My car has done arnd 20000kms & has been running on regular oil. Now if i were to switch to synthetic oil would it be much of a problem? Also how would i go abt changing the oil considering i give my car at linkway honda...would they accept if they were given a can of oil everytime ?

Ajmat, I am experiencing the same problem here. I want to start using Mobil 1 once it crosses the 5000 km mark but I will have to change the oil according to the Honda recommended intervals to keep my 3 year unlimited mileage warranty intact...intervals which are recommended keeping mineral oils in mind and are thus too short for Mobil 1. This way it will get a mite too expensive. I think these manufacturers must keep a separate provision for synthetic oils, but it will be too much to ask of the non-proactive current breed of manufacturers.

No problems with the Merc though, since Auto Hangar uses only Mobil 1 synthetic lubes.

But there is no way they will refuse to service if you give them your own oil, especially since Mobil 1 EXCEEDS the requirements of all manufacturers. There are certain grades which must be met at a minimum, and Mobil 1 surpasses all of them with ease.

RJ,

This is infact the best time to switch over to Mobil 1, as after 20000 kms of city driving with regular mineral oil, your car engine has now been "conditioned".

BTW did you know that Mobil ran a BMW engine for 1.6 Million kilometers under varying conditions , then took it back to BMW for a checkup. Result? The tolerances were good enough for the engine to pass as brand new.
