Cool. Can I get this checked at a local garage or only mass? Also, should I bother waiting for the smell to subside?

I took the car down to the garage(not mass), they checked the ac vents. The mechanic almost immediately said it was stale smoke air. Asked me to drive with the window down all day, I did, the smell went away. However, today, the minute I put the ventilation on external air, the smells back. It seems there's something in the vents. What do you guys think

I'm at sai service right now. Seems they couldn't find anything wrong besides a small gap being left open during ice installation. Also the ac didn't have a filter. A 5 lakh car and they couldn't provide a 1500 rs filter. A maruti is a maruti is a maruti!
