Default Grooved Maruti 1000

Dear all,

I m extremely happy to share another grooved project on 92 Maruti 1000........car was recently brought by a friend of my friend and he was eager to do mods done by me after he drove my car........of course he doesnt have K & N & free flow & plugs........

So he decided to implements few things to improve performance as well as FE without hurting his pocket.....we carried our series of mods in his car one by one & finally grooved his engine head yesterday......

1)Initially we made ozone treatment mod by sucking ozone from distributor cap & making T joint at manifold vacuum....we felt increase in power....he checked FE figures by his own with 1 ltr plastic bottle & found FE of 15 with 2 person in car......

2)Few days later started using Acetone+Xylene +2T in the raio of 2.5ml:2.5ml:2ml.......car felt more responsive & also smoothness of engie increased......a tiny addition in right proportion makes so much difference....

3)Yesterday we caried out much awaited groove work in his car with my local mechanic.....we started at 10 in the morning & completed work by 9....removed 0.8 mm frm head surface then made grooves with small triaguler file......grooves were pointed towards spark plug...

I m really happy to see such an old car getting transformed into a very pleasurable one not only from the driving poit of view but also from FE and not to forget emission.....

This time I managed to get some good photos to share ith you all......grooves can be seen clearly.....

4)We added boric acid powder in gear oil in the ratio of 5% by weight of oil....so added 100 gms powder in 2 liter engine oil..........it will take time to show effect.....

5)Also greased all 4 wheel bearings & axel bearings with boric acid treated normal SKF grease.....we added 10% powder in grease.....again this will take time as with more use boric acid powder will tranform into boric oxide & will stick to metalik surface of bearings......

I skipped adding oil into engine as I m expecting car to cover at least 1000 km with all this work without any trouble.....

Here are photos...

HI finetuning,

Congratulations on the successful completion of another job.

I had asked this question earlier as well (http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/techni...tml#post346538 (My Grooved Esteem FE is 14.5 Kmpl)) but didn't receive your answer.

I understand that there has been a tremendous increase in the bottom end of the power / torque band. I'd like to know the difference to the top end of the engine after grooving.
1. Does the RPM it rise faster / the same / slower than before?
2. Has the max RPM possble increased / decreased?

How much do you reckon the compression went up by.

Hi elf,

Thanks....

Its evident that we feel good amount of increase at low end.....but as far as my experience goes riding grooved cars I can say that there is increase in top end too....

RPM rise is faster then before......we feel quick acceleration.....

About max poosible RPM I cant comment as not checked........but there is feeling that it increased.....

I understand that we expect similer rise at top end too but with my stock tyre & suspension I m hesitant to test it.....

Hi Mpower,

I expect at least 10% increase in compression ratio....stock compression ratio not known.....if stock is 9:1 then with 0.8 mm removal its nearly 10:1......but I couldnt found stock data........

Enjoy....

Before grooving Maruti 1000 I tried to find out stock compression figure but couldnt......even couldnt found old manuals........so I assumed it must be in the range of 8.75 to 9.25 as stage3moster said.........

Its neccessary to find compression figure as based on this we are going to remove metal from the head......

Enjoy....
